More than 130 hotels and resorts across 47 countries, the largest luxury hotel collection under a single name.
Four Seasons runs the most consistent five-star service operation in the world, and the George V in Paris is our pick as its definitive flagship, with Bora Bora the resort benchmark. Below, all 78 properties we profile, mapped by region and occasion, with honest calls on where the rate premium stops making sense.
Four Seasons was founded in 1961 by Isadore Sharp in Toronto and is now majority-owned by Bill Gates's Cascade Investment, with Saudi Arabia's Kingdom Holding as the minority partner. The company built the template for the modern five-star hotel: personal service consistent enough that the brand's standards travel with you from Tokyo to Toronto.
The portfolio spans more than 130 hotels and resorts across some 47 countries, from the George V in Paris and Gresham Palace in Budapest to private-island resorts in the Maldives and Bora Bora. There is no points programme; the booking advantage comes instead through Four Seasons Preferred Partner travel advisors, who can add breakfast, credits, and upgrades at no extra cost.
We profile and score the 78 properties below, organised by region. Each entry links to a full editorial review with the rooms to book, the honest drawbacks, and which occasion the property genuinely serves. View Hotel →Editorial profiles for every Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts property, by occasion, by city, by signature programme. Find the Four Seasons that fits your celebration.
Browse All Cities →The seventy-eight properties profiled here do not interchange. The brand guarantees the service floor; the building, the city, and the setting decide whether the rate is worth it.
Bora Bora for the overwater classic, Landaa Giraavaru for the Maldives marine programme, The Nam Hai for beach plus culture. More in our honeymoon rankings.
George V in Paris, Gresham Palace in Budapest, and Firenze are the stays where the building is the event.
Tokyo Marunouchi tops our Tokyo business ranking; Embarcadero leads San Francisco. See all business rankings.
For a milestone trip, skip the corporate-city properties (Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Denver): excellent bases, not destinations. And in Las Vegas, remember the hotel occupies floors of the Mandalay Bay tower; serene, but you share the building.
The George V in Paris is our pick as the brand's definitive city flagship: a 1928 palace hotel off the Champs-Elysees where the building, the flowers, and the dining all perform at flagship level. Among resorts, Four Seasons Bora Bora sets the overwater benchmark, with Landaa Giraavaru in the Maldives close behind.
Bill Gates's Cascade Investment holds the majority stake, with Saudi Arabia's Kingdom Holding as minority partner; founder Isadore Sharp's family retains a small interest. Sharp founded the company in Toronto in 1961, and the corporate headquarters remain there. The brand manages rather than owns most of its hotels.
No points programme exists. The brand's answer is Four Seasons Preferred Partner: booking through an affiliated travel advisor typically adds daily breakfast, a property credit, space-available upgrades, and early or late checkout at no extra cost. If you pay rack rate booked direct with no advisor, you are leaving real value on the table.
Four Seasons Bora Bora for the classic overwater stay, Landaa Giraavaru in the Maldives for a bigger island with a serious marine programme, and the Nam Hai in Hoi An for a beach honeymoon with culture within reach. City-side, the George V and Florence's Firenze carry the romance better than any business-district property.
More than 130 hotels and resorts operate across roughly 47 countries, with a steady pipeline of openings. This index profiles and scores 78 of them, every property for which we maintain a full editorial review, organised by region above.
Skip the business-city properties for milestone trips: hotels like Atlanta, Austin, Houston, and Denver are polished corporate bases, not destination stays. Spend the flagship premium where the building itself is the event: George V, Gresham Palace in Budapest, Astir Palace in Athens, the Surf Club in Miami. Same brand, very different returns on the rate.
Not as of mid-2026. The hotel has been closed since the 2020 Beirut port blast damaged the building, and it is under full reconstruction. Kingdom Holding announced a first-quarter 2026 reopening, but that had not been confirmed as open and bookable when we last checked, so treat it as closed and verify directly with Four Seasons before planning a stay.
For families, the strongest Four Seasons options are Anguilla and Doha for beach-and-pool resorts, Kuda Huraa in the Maldives for an easy 25-minute speedboat transfer rather than a seaplane, and the Orlando resort at Walt Disney World for theme-park trips. Each pairs the brand's service floor with genuine kid-friendly space that the business-city hotels do not offer.
A ranked shortlist, a special offer worth booking, and the overpriced stay to skip. Straight from the editors.
