Why Bulgari Hotel Beijing is · #31 · for business

Bulgari Hotel Beijing ranks #31 on our 2026 list of the best business hotels in the world. The case below explains why — the lobby, the breakfast, the suite category that gets paid up for, and the alternatives we measured it against.

“Antonio Citterio interiors — 119 rooms in Embassy Quarter, Bulgari's Chinese flagship.”

The hotel itself

"119 rooms in Antonio Citterio's tower in Sanlitun. LVMH's Beijing Maison — Italian-design discipline in Beijing's contemporary luxury district."

Bulgari Hotel Beijing opened in October 2017 in Sanlitun — Beijing's contemporary luxury district where the city's most-respected dining, luxury retail, and gallery scene concentrate — in a purpose-built tower designed by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, Bulgari Hotels' design partner globally. The architectural premise is contemporary Italian-modernist, with substantial use of Italian travertine, Chinese craft accents, and the consistent Bulgari Hotels luxury aesthetic.

Why it works for business

Major business cities — Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, San Francisco — reward hotels that are operationally serious about the deal trip. The standard is high but the differentiation is local: each of these cities has a specific business neighbourhood (Pudong in Shanghai, the Loop in Chicago, DIFC in Dubai, K Street in Washington), and the hotels that succeed are the ones that read the geography correctly.

Bulgari Hotels are the jeweller's twenty-year project, run with Marriott's Luxury Group as silent partners. Antonio Citterio interiors, Niko Romito running the kitchens. For business travel the case is location — Bulgari builds in the city centre, not the airport corridor — combined with the operating standard a Marriott back-end produces. Tokyo on Yaesu Tower is the operational heart of central Tokyo. Shanghai is on the Bund. Beijing is a four-minute walk from the embassy district. The Bulgari is where deals get done by people who already know each other.

The 119 rooms split between the entry-level Deluxe Rooms (with the smaller configurations), Premier Rooms with the larger room dimensions, Junior Suites with substantial private living spaces, the Suites including the Beijing Suite, and the multi-bedroom Bulgari Suite (the property's flagship single accommodation). The interiors integrate Citterio's Italian-modernist design with handcrafted Chinese timber, Italian Carrara marble, and the consistent LVMH-Bulgari design language.

The grounds — the heated indoor swimming pool with floor-to-ceiling windows over the city, the comprehensive Bulgari Spa (with the brand's signature treatments), the fitness centre, the rooftop terrace overlooking the Liangma River, and the multi-restaurant complex — make Bulgari Beijing comprehensively-equipped. The riverside garden along the Liangma River is one of central Beijing's more peaceful luxury hotel garden settings.

Where it ranks against rivals

For a 2026 deal trip at this level, the most direct comparisons are Four Seasons Hotel Chicago in Chicago (#30 on this list), Rosewood Washington DC in Washington Dc (#32 on this list), Ritz Paris in Paris (#29 on this list). Bulgari Hotel Beijing earns the higher rank for one or two specific reasons covered in the verdict above — usually a combination of address, lobby gravity, and the dining room that holds when the meeting goes long. The other properties are not lesser hotels — in some cases the answer for your particular trip is the runner-up.
