The year's biggest arrival is also its hardest to reach: Amanvari, Aman's Mexico debut, opens August 1 on Baja's empty East Cape. Closer to a runway, Cancun gets its first St. Regis at Costa Mujeres in early summer, ONE | GT is already open in George Town, and Kimpton's first all-inclusive lands in a Riviera Maya jungle park in September.

Amanvari is the opening to plan a whole trip around, but read the access and the points before you book any of them. The Caribbean and Mexico's best 2026 debuts split cleanly: one remote, cash-only Aman where a 4x4 and a flexible itinerary matter more than status, and three brand flags where Bonvoy, Hilton Honors and IHG One Rewards genuinely change the math. Knowing which is which is the difference between an easy points redemption and a five-figure cash week.
The pattern of the year on this side of the world: the design-and-wilderness crowd went to Baja and stayed independent, while the loyalty programs planted flags in Cancun, the Caymans and the Riviera Maya. Three of the four headliners earn points. Two more big all-inclusives are confirmed at Costa Mujeres for 2026 without a firm date, so we list them as pipeline rather than rank them. None of these hotels has had a full season to settle, so treat every one as a first-year property and price the risk in.
Where sources disagree we say so rather than guess. *The St. Regis Costa Mujeres opened reservations for June 25, but some trade reporting now cites a revised mid-July date, so we list it as summer 2026. Amanvari was first announced for spring 2026 and is now taking reservations for August 1; Kimpton Tres Rios slipped from a January date to September 22. Key counts are the latest figures published by each hotel or brand; ONE | GT is listed by its parent as 95 suites, with some opening-week coverage citing 97.
#1
East Cape, Baja California Sur, Mexico · Opening Aug 1
Amanvari
"The opening of the year on this coast, and the one that asks the most of you to reach: an hour past Cabo's resort strip to a stretch of desert shoreline most travelers have never set foot on. Aman's Mexico debut is cash-only, and worth it."
Aman's first hotel in Mexico is taking reservations ahead of an August 1, 2026 opening on Baja California Sur's East Cape, the empty coastline north of Los Cabos that the resort crowd skipped. It sits inside the gated Costa Palmas community on the Sea of Cortez, with 18 casitas stepped above the landscape, a handful on the sand or estuary, plus Aman Residences, a spa built around a bespoke temazcal, and access to a Robert Trent Jones II golf course and a deep-water marina.
Cash only Aman runs no transferable-points program, so there is no award night and no elite status to lean on here. The lever for perks is a Virtuoso or American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts booking, which can add breakfast, a property credit and an upgrade at the same nightly rate.
Getting there is the catch: fly into Los Cabos (SJD) and budget roughly an hour by road, the last stretch through the East Cape's desert plains; this is deliberate remoteness, not a transfer hiccup. Honest cons: only 18 casitas means it books out fast and prices like scarcity; a brand-new kitchen and spa will take a season to find their rhythm; and for points-and-status travelers, every night is a cash night with no way around it.
Costa Mujeres, Cancun, Mexico · Opening Summer 2026
The St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort, Cancun
"The points pick of the Mexican Caribbean this year: a genuine St. Regis, about a half-hour from Cancun, where Bonvoy status and butler service finally meet on this coast. Easy to reach, easy to redeem — the opposite trade to Amanvari."
St. Regis arrives in the Cancun area for the first time in summer 2026, in the quieter Costa Mujeres zone about a half-hour north of Cancun. Reservations opened for a June 25 debut, though some trade reporting now points to a revised mid-July date, so treat the exact day as soft. It is a manageable 163 rooms and suites, each with its own terrace or balcony and the brand's signature butler service, alongside several restaurants spanning Japanese, seafood and Mexican, and a run of pools.
Marriott Bonvoy This is where the loyalty math works on the Caribbean side of Mexico. Bonvoy points transfer in from Amex Membership Rewards, Chase and Bilt; Platinum and above earn breakfast and lounge access; and published rates run from roughly $662 cash or 100,000 points a night. Confirm the award category before redeeming, since new hotels are sometimes uncategorised for weeks.
Getting there is the easy part: Cancun (CUN) is one of the best-connected airports in the Americas, and the transfer is a straight run north of perhaps half an hour. Honest cons: Costa Mujeres is a developing resort strip, not a walkable town, so you are committing to the property; first-season St. Regis openings can run uneven on service and dining; and 100,000 points a night is a steep entry award by historical Bonvoy standards.
"Not a beach resort — an urban tower in the capital, and already open. The interesting wrinkle for points travelers: it joined Small Luxury Hotels of the World, which quietly makes it bookable on Hilton Honors in a destination Hilton barely touches."
ONE | GT opened in George Town in May 2026, the first hotel on Grand Cayman to join Small Luxury Hotels of the World. It is a deliberately urban, residential-style address rather than a Seven Mile Beach resort: an 11-storey tower with 95 hotel suites and 82 residences, condo-style layouts with full kitchens and balconies, three restaurants, two pools, and the island's only rooftop infinity pool 144 feet up. It is managed by Remington Hospitality.
Hilton Honors (via SLH) Through SLH's partnership with Hilton, ONE | GT bookings earn and burn Hilton Honors points and recognise Hilton status — a rare points option on an island where the major chains are thin on the ground. Opening-month suite rates started around $350, with cheaper nights in the June–October low season.
Getting there is the simplest on this list: Owen Roberts International (GCM) is about ten minutes from George Town. Honest cons: this is downtown, not the beach, so Seven Mile sand is a short drive rather than out your door; a residential-led building can feel quieter than a full resort on amenities and service; and harbour-view suites are the ones worth paying up for, not the city-facing rooms.
"The wild card: Kimpton's first all-inclusive anywhere, dropped inside a 326-acre nature park where freshwater rivers meet the Caribbean. The setting is the selling point; the opening date has been the problem."
Kimpton's first-ever all-inclusive opens on September 22, 2026 inside the 326-acre Tres Rios Nature Park just north of Playa del Carmen, a genuine ecological preserve laced with cenotes and three rivers running to the sea. It is a big one at 355 suites, with a planned seven restaurants and five bars built as separate concepts rather than a single buffet hall, plus a spa and water-based nature programming on the doorstep.
IHG One Rewards As an IHG property it earns and redeems IHG One Rewards points, with Diamond and Platinum perks and the program's fourth-night-free award on qualifying redemptions — a useful angle at an all-inclusive of this size. As always at a new opening, check the points rate against cash the week you book.
Getting there: Cancun (CUN) is the gateway, roughly 45 minutes south by road to the park gate. Honest cons: the date has already slipped from an earlier January target, so confirm before booking flights; 355 suites is a large, busy resort, not an intimate eco-lodge despite the nature-park setting; and an all-inclusive food program spread across seven venues can be inconsistent in its first season.
Two more luxury all-inclusives are confirmed for Costa Mujeres before the year is out, both on Marriott Bonvoy, but neither had a firm date we could verify as of June 2026, so we list them as pipeline rather than rank them against hotels you can already book.
JW Marriott All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres brings 283 rooms of polished, big-brand all-inclusive with six dining venues, and the adjacent W All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres adds another 300 rooms in the brand's louder, design-led register. The two are planned to share The Village, a 70,000-square-foot dining-and-entertainment complex, which makes this corner of Costa Mujeres a cluster to watch. Both will run on Bonvoy, so for points travelers they are worth tracking alongside the St. Regis next door — just wait for an opening date and an award category before you build a trip around either.
Conspicuously absent from this list: a couple of names other 2026 round-ups float that we could not stand behind. Andaz Turks & Caicos at Grace Bay is widely listed for 2026, but the most reliable points reporting now dates its opening to June 2027 after repeated delays, so it is a 2027 arrival, not a 2026 one. Six Senses Grand Bahama is real and much-anticipated, but we could not verify a firm 2026 opening date, so it stays off until we can. When a hotel is not genuinely a 2026 opening, we leave it off.
The access-and-points read
If you collect transferable points, the Caribbean and Mexico are a friendlier 2026 than Asia. Three of the four headliners earn points: the St. Regis Costa Mujeres on Marriott Bonvoy, ONE | GT on Hilton Honors through its SLH membership, and Kimpton Tres Rios on IHG One Rewards. The one cash-only standout, Amanvari, is also the most remote and the most special — which is the trade this region keeps offering you in 2026: the easier a hotel is to reach, the more likely your points work there.
One tactical note that applies to every hotel here: brand-new properties are frequently left uncategorised for weeks or months after opening, which can mean an artificially low introductory award rate or, just as often, no award availability at all. Always price the cash rate against the points rate the week you book rather than assuming an opening is a sweet spot. For the underlying program mechanics, our guides to Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors and IHG One Rewards cover transfer partners and elite perks in full, and our ranking of the best hotel loyalty programs sets them side by side.
2026 Caribbean & Mexico openings: what travelers ask
What new luxury hotels are opening in the Caribbean and Mexico in 2026?
Four headline luxury arrivals anchor the year. ONE | GT opened in George Town, Grand Cayman in May 2026 (95 suites). The St. Regis Costa Mujeres, Cancun opens in early summer (163 rooms), Amanvari opens August 1 on Baja's East Cape (18 casitas, Aman's Mexico debut), and Kimpton Tres Rios in the Riviera Maya opens September 22 (355 suites, Kimpton's first all-inclusive). The JW Marriott and W all-inclusives at Costa Mujeres are also confirmed for 2026 but had no firm date as of June.
Which 2026 Caribbean and Mexico openings can I book with points?
Three of the four headliners earn and burn points. The St. Regis Costa Mujeres runs on Marriott Bonvoy, with award nights from 100,000 points. ONE | GT Grand Cayman is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World member integrated into Hilton Honors. Kimpton Tres Rios sits inside IHG One Rewards. Amanvari is the exception: Aman has no transferable-points program, so every night there is a cash night. Brand-new hotels often go uncategorised for months, so confirm the award rate before you assume a sweet spot.
When does Amanvari open, and can I use hotel points there?
Amanvari is taking reservations ahead of an August 1, 2026 opening on Baja California Sur's East Cape, inside the Costa Palmas community about an hour by road from Los Cabos airport. It is Aman's first hotel in Mexico, with 18 casitas plus Aman Residences, a spa with a bespoke temazcal, and access to a Robert Trent Jones II golf course and marina. Aman runs no points program, so you pay cash; a Virtuoso or Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts booking can add value at the same rate.
Is the St. Regis Costa Mujeres open yet?
Not quite. The St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort, Cancun is taking reservations for a summer 2026 opening about a half-hour north of Cancun in the Costa Mujeres zone; reservations opened for June 25, though some trade reporting now points to a revised mid-July date, so confirm before booking flights. It has 163 rooms and suites, each with a terrace or balcony and the brand's signature butler service, plus several restaurants and pools. It runs on Marriott Bonvoy, with cash rates published from roughly $662 and award nights from 100,000 points.
Is ONE | GT Grand Cayman open?
Yes. ONE | GT opened in George Town in May 2026, the first hotel in Grand Cayman to join Small Luxury Hotels of the World, which means it is bookable through Hilton Honors. It is an urban, residential-style property rather than a beach resort: 95 hotel suites and 82 residences in an 11-storey tower with the island's only rooftop infinity pool. Opening-month suite rates started around $350.
How are these opening dates verified?
Every date, room count and loyalty detail here was re-checked in June 2026 against the hotel or parent brand and reputable trade coverage. Where a property kept slipping or sources disagreed, we say so. We left off names that other round-ups list for 2026 but that we could not stand behind, including Andaz Turks & Caicos at Grace Bay, which the most reliable points reporting now dates to June 2027.
