Living Water Resort & Spa

A 274-room waterfront resort on Collingwood Harbour, between Blue Mountain and Georgian Bay, with an 18-hole golf course, the only waterfront restaurant in town, and the region's award-winning spa.

"The lakeside counterargument to a village stay. Living Water trades ski-in/ski-out for marina views, an 18-hole course, and the region's serious spa, and wins in three of four seasons."

The Hotel

Living Water Resort & Spa occupies a fifteen-acre waterfront site on Collingwood Harbour, the only resort in the region sited directly on Georgian Bay rather than at the base of the escarpment. The original property opened in the late 1990s and the building has been progressively renovated and expanded since, with new room blocks, a marina, the spa wing, and a substantially upgraded lakeside dining pavilion completed under current ownership. The architecture is unremarkable; the site is the asset. From the rear terraces and the upper-floor west-facing balconies the view is uninterrupted Georgian Bay water with the Niagara Escarpment as the southern horizon, the regional money shot.

The 274 keys are arranged across several connected wings and a residence tower, split between conventional hotel rooms of roughly 32 square metres and condo-style suites with one or two bedrooms, full kitchens, living rooms, dining areas, and gas fireplaces. The condo product is the more interesting booking for any stay longer than two nights; the Deluxe king rooms work for shorter weekends. Many of the upper-floor suites face the bay with floor-to-ceiling glass, and the corner two-bedrooms on the residence tower are the property's quiet jewel. Interior finishes are warm-contemporary, neutral palette, oak veneer, soft greys, and clean lines, comparable to any modern Marriott or Hilton four-star.

The Lakeside Seafood & Grill is the property's defining dining feature, the only restaurant in Collingwood directly on the water, with a wraparound deck for summer service and a fireplace-anchored interior room for winter. The kitchen runs a competent Great Lakes-leaning menu, the wine list is broader than the four-star average, and the room books out reliably on summer weekends. The Aquapath spa, repeatedly named among the best in Ontario, is the second pillar, a multi-room sequence of steam, sauna, cold plunge, and a thermal hydro-circuit that draws a regional day-spa audience independent of the hotel guest base.

The wider operation includes the 18-hole Cranberry Golf course (a five-minute drive on the same Living Water Resorts campus), a 60-slip marina with concierge and sailing-school access, a year-round outdoor swimming pool, multiple indoor and outdoor hot tubs, and a small fitness studio. Service across the property leans warm and Canadian-resort-casual rather than formal; staff are local and tenured, which shows in the consistency of the operation. The hotel runs at high occupancy through the May to October summer-and-golf season, drops in shoulder weeks, and recovers for ski season as the off-mountain alternative to the village. Free parking, reliable WiFi, and a 24-hour front desk are standard.

Best Occasion Fit

Family Holiday

For a summer family week the Living Water two-bedroom waterfront suite is the regional booking of choice. The marina, the boat-rental dock, the year-round outdoor pool, the dedicated splash zone, and the proximity to Wasaga Beach (15 minutes) and the Scenic Caves (20 minutes) give a full week of programmed activity without leaving the harbour. The condo suites with kitchen and laundry absorb the chaos of three or four people for five nights.

Wellness Retreat

The Aquapath spa is the operational reason Living Water functions as a wellness booking, the thermal circuit (warm, hot, cold, steam, sauna, relaxation, repeat) is the most complete in-resort spa sequence in the area. Pair the spa with morning runs along the Georgian Trail, a yoga session in the resort studio, and dinner at Lakeside Seafood for a credible three-night reset within two hours of Toronto.

Anniversary

A summer-anniversary booking the village cannot match. Request an upper-floor west-facing king for sunset over the bay, dinner on the deck at Lakeside Seafood, and a side-by-side couple's spa morning at Aquapath. The waterfront setting is the difference, the trade-off is the ten-minute drive to Blue Mountain Village if a day on the mountain is on the itinerary.
