New Luxury Hotels in Milan: 2026 & 2027 Openings

What actually opened around the Winter Games, what the brands themselves say comes next, and which circulating dates to ignore.

The short answer: Milan's newest luxury hotel is The Carlton, a Rocco Forte house open since November 2025 between Via Senato and Via della Spiga. The next confirmed arrivals, Rosewood Milan and Six Senses Milan, both list 2027 on their brands' own pages, whatever the 2026 headlines still promise.

We may earn a commission when you book through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. Rankings are editorial and never sold. Every date and key count below was checked in July 2026 against the operating brand's own property page or press office. Where the brand and the trade press disagree, we print the brand and say so.

A doorman I trust on Via della Spiga put it well this spring: the Games came and went in February, and the hotel Milan actually gained for them is the one guests now ask for by name. This page keeps the record straight. One grand house is open and taking guests today. Two more, from Rosewood and Six Senses, carry 2027 on their own brand pages even though half the internet still prints 2026. A signed W sits in limbo. And the year's real 2026 fireworks are not in the city at all but an hour north on Lake Como. Each entry names its source, because Milanese opening dates have moved more than once and a front desk cannot check you into a rendering.

How we verified these dates

The Carlton's opening and details come from Rocco Forte's own press office. Rosewood Milan's year comes from the brand's live property page, which now reads 2027; its older press URLs literally carry 2025, 2026 and 2027 variants, a paper trail of postponements we treat as superseded. Six Senses Milan's year comes from the brand's new-openings page, which lists the hotel under 2027. W Milan Duomo appears only with its verifiable 2022 signing. Statuses are re-checked quarterly. The Carlton, Milan

Opened November 2025 · 71 rooms & suites · second Rocco Forte address in Milan

From the desk: this is the check-in that matters in Milan right now. Rocco Forte reopened the old Carlton in November 2025 after a reported 60 million euro renovation, timed for the run-up to the February Games, with 71 rooms and suites conceived as private residences. Interiors carry the direction of Olga Polizzi with designers Philip Vergeylen and Paolo Moschino, and the house holds an Irene Forte Spa with treatment rooms, wet areas and a salon, plus a restaurant, lounge bar and rooftop bar above the rooftops of the fashion district.

Ask for: the Via Senato 5 door for arrival. Via della Spiga 8 is the prettier address, but della Spiga is a pedestrian street, so your driver cannot pull up to it; walk out that side instead, straight into the shopping. Staff settled in quickly by grand-opening standards, and a house this size keeps its guest-name ratio high.

Worth saying plainly: 71 keys in the priciest quarter of the city means rates that start firm and climb brutally during fashion weeks and the April Salone; book those dates months out or pick a quieter week and enjoy the same rooms for markedly less.

Rosewood Milan

2027 per brand page · 70 rooms incl. ~20 suites · two 19th-century palazzi

From the desk, when it comes: Rosewood takes over Palazzo Branca and the Palazzo della Banca Commerciale, the 19th-century former home of the Italian Commercial Bank, steps from Via Montenapoleone. The brand's plan reads classically Rosewood: 70 rooms including roughly 20 suites, a bar and restaurant wrapped around a courtyard and garden, and an Asaya wellness floor with an indoor pool, a rarity in central Milan worth planning a winter stay around.

Ask for: patience with the calendar. The brand's own property page now says 2027, while its earlier announcements promised 2025 and then 2026; that drift is normal for a bank-building conversion, where vaults and landmark protections slow everything. When bookings open, the courtyard-facing rooms will be the quiet ones.

Worth saying plainly: until Rosewood publishes an opening date rather than a year, do not build a trip around this hotel; the project has already slipped twice, and 2027 is a year, not a season.

Six Senses Milan

2027 per brand page · 68 rooms incl. 15 suites · first Six Senses in Milan

From the desk, when it comes: the wellness house lands at Via Brera 19, in the gallery-and-atelier quarter where Milan feels most like a village. Six Senses' own page details 68 rooms including 15 suites, two with private plunge pools, arabescato marble and antique brass through the interiors, an internal courtyard, a specialty restaurant and deli, the brand's Earth Lab, and the pairing that will sell the place: a rooftop bar with a sky pool over Brera's tiled roofs.

Ask for: the brand page, not the headlines, when timing a stay. Trade coverage spent 2025 promising a late 2026 debut; the hotel's own listing sits under 2027, and that is the date we print. Spa-first travelers should watch this one over Rosewood, since a full Six Senses spa in the city centre changes Milan's wellness map.

Worth saying plainly: Brera's charm is its narrowness, and that cuts both ways; car access is awkward, nightlife hums below the windows on weekends, and light sleepers should ask for courtyard-facing rooms whenever the plans are published.

What about the W Milan Duomo?

Treat it as signed, not scheduled. Marriott announced W Milan Duomo in May 2022 alongside a Naples sibling, with an opening then expected in 2024. That year passed without a hotel, and as of July 2026 we could not verify a current opening date from Marriott's own channels. Nothing about the signing has been publicly withdrawn, so the project stays on our watch list, but any date you see attached to it deserves a raised eyebrow until the brand prints one itself. Milan has seen this movie before; the Carlton itself spent years as a construction hoarding before Rocco Forte finished the job.

The 2026 story is really on Lake Como

Guests asking the desk for "the new place" in 2026 usually mean a lake, not the city. An hour north, The Ritz-Carlton Bellagio is rebuilding the historic Grande Bretagne into the brand's first Italian resort, with 59 rooms and 46 suites, two of them signature lake-view showpieces, plus indoor and outdoor pools and a private boat dock, against a 2026 target that Marriott's development partners have stood behind. The Lake Como EDITION, a conversion of the Britannia Excelsior in Cadenabbia of roughly 142 rooms, has watched its own timeline slide and should be confirmed directly with the brand before you plan around it. If your Milan trip has two spare nights, the smart 2026 move is a city-and-lake split; our Lake Como guide covers the houses you can book tonight.

Frequently asked questions

What is the newest luxury hotel in Milan?
The Carlton, a Rocco Forte hotel that opened in November 2025 with 71 rooms and suites and entrances on Via Senato 5 and Via della Spiga 8, inside the Quadrilatero della Moda. It carries an Irene Forte Spa, a rooftop bar, and interiors directed by Olga Polizzi with Philip Vergeylen and Paolo Moschino.
When does Rosewood Milan open?
Rosewood's own property page says 2027. Plenty of coverage still circulates 2025 and 2026 dates from the original 2022 announcement, but the brand page is the current word. The 70-room hotel, with roughly 20 suites, takes over Palazzo Branca and the Palazzo della Banca Commerciale on the edge of the fashion district.
When does Six Senses Milan open?
Six Senses lists Milan under 2027 on its own new-openings page, despite trade stories promising late 2026. The hotel takes Via Brera 19 in the Brera quarter with 68 rooms including 15 suites, two of them with plunge pools, plus a rooftop bar, a sky pool and the brand's Earth Lab sustainability space.
Is a W hotel coming to Milan?
One was signed. Marriott announced W Milan Duomo in May 2022 with an expected 2024 opening, and that date has come and gone without a confirmed replacement. As of July 2026 we could not verify an opening date from Marriott, so treat every W Milan date you read as unconfirmed until the brand publishes one.
Which new luxury hotels near Milan open in 2026?
The headline is on Lake Como, about an hour away. The Ritz-Carlton Bellagio, the brand's first Italian resort, is a rebuild of the historic Grande Bretagne with 59 rooms and 46 suites carrying a 2026 target. The Lake Como EDITION, a conversion of the Britannia Excelsior, has seen its timeline move and should be confirmed with the brand before planning.
Where should you stay in Milan until the 2027 wave arrives?
The Carlton is the freshest hardware and sits in the middle of the shopping district. If you prefer the recent class of 2024 and 2025, Casa Brera and Portrait Milano both run at full polish, and the established houses around Via Manzoni give you grand service with seasoned staff. Rates peak during fashion weeks and the Salone del Mobile in April.
