If you only take one thing from this hub: resort-format openings beat all-suite city flagships for families, almost every time. A property with grounds, a pool and a real outdoor footprint absorbs children and a settling-in period far better than a small, design-led address downtown.
Among recent openings, the resort arrivals are the natural family picks. One&Only Aesthesis in Glyfada opened in 2024 with 127 rooms and bungalows on the Athenian Riviera, with the space and water that young children need; the lakeside Rosewood Schloss Fuschl near Salzburg reopened in July 2024 in a 1461 schloss with grounds to roam. Whichever you choose, brand-new hotels rarely publish detailed family policies before opening and rarely discount at launch. Before you book, confirm three things directly: that connecting or adjoining rooms exist and can be guaranteed, that cribs or cots are available, and that any kids' club is actually open with supervised hours during your dates. The proven 2022 to 2023 class is usually the better-value, lower-risk family booking; pay the novelty premium only when you genuinely want the newest room in town.

The Imperial Hotel, Kyoto, which opened on March 5, 2026 in the Gion district inside the restored 1936 Yasaka Kaikan, a nationally registered cultural property. It has 55 rooms and includes a pool, spa and fitness facilities; with eight tatami-floored North Wing rooms it is a calm, culture-first base rather than a kids' club resort.
