The Hotel

The Peninsula Beijing opened originally in 1989 on Wangfujing — Beijing's primary luxury shopping street and the city's traditional commercial heart, ten minutes by foot from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City — and was comprehensively renovated and reopened in 2017 with completely refurbished rooms, public spaces, and dining venues. The 2017 renovation effectively reset the property; the post-renovation Peninsula Beijing is one of the more refined urban-luxury hotels in mainland China and the only Peninsula property in mainland China outside Shanghai.

The 230 rooms split between the entry-level Deluxe Rooms (with city views), Grand Deluxe Rooms (with the larger configurations), Junior Suites with substantial private living spaces, the Suites including the Beijing Suite, and the multi-bedroom Suites including the Peninsula Suite (the property's flagship single accommodation). Every room is post-2017-renovation contemporary Chinese-modern with substantial Chinese craft accents, marble bathrooms, and the consistent Peninsula classical-luxury aesthetic.

The grounds — the heated indoor swimming pool with floor-to-ceiling windows, the comprehensive Peninsula Spa, the fitness centre, the Peninsula's 24-hour Page Boy concierge service (the brand's signature service feature), and the multi-restaurant complex — make Peninsula Beijing comprehensively-equipped. The Peninsula Spa runs the brand's signature treatments adapted to Chinese wellness traditions including traditional Chinese medicine.

Dining is at three main restaurants. Huang Ting is the headline Cantonese fine-dining (Michelin-starred). Jing is the modern Western. The Lobby is the all-day. The wine programme is comprehensive; the Chinese-tea programme is among the deepest in any Beijing luxury hotel. Service is the consistent global Peninsula standard delivered by a heavily Beijing team. The Peninsula Beijing is the most refined post-2017-renovation urban Beijing luxury and the answer for travellers who want the Wangfujing-and-Forbidden-City central location with the Peninsula brand's particular European-classical-luxury operational discipline.

Best Occasion Fit

Business

The Peninsula Beijing is one of mainland China's primary business-luxury hotels. The Wangfujing central business location, the Page Boy 24-hour concierge service, and the comprehensive meeting facilities work for executive corporate travellers in Beijing. Huang Ting and the Lobby serve as Beijing corporate-meeting venues.

Anniversary

The Beijing anniversary at the Peninsula. Book a Junior Suite. Huang Ting Cantonese fine-dining; the Peninsula Spa programme; the walks to the Forbidden City. The combination of the Wangfujing central location, the post-2017 polish, and the Peninsula service consistency produces the polished urban Beijing anniversary.

Honeymoon

The Beijing honeymoon for couples whose stay centres on the Forbidden City and Tiananmen cultural circuit. The proximity is a 10-minute walk; the Peninsula's central concierge service handles all imperial-cultural arrangements; the Huang Ting dinner provides the Chinese-cuisine anchor. Different from the imperial-garden retreat at Aman Summer Palace — for couples whose Beijing trip is the central-cultural focus.
