A 42-room five-star spa hotel in Vinay — between Reims and Épernay on the Côte des Blancs — with the 1-Michelin-star Le 7 restaurant, the 18-metre indoor heated pool, and a 1.5-hectare park overlooking the Champagne vineyards.
"The four-decade-old Champagne wine-country resort in the village of Vinay — restored 1972 from a 19th-c brick-factory site (the brique-terie name is direct), and now operating with the most extensive Champagne-region hotel-spa programme. The right wellness-and-Champagne booking at the price tier just below Royal Champagne."
La Briqueterie opened in 1972 on the site of a former 19th-century brick factory (the literal Briqueterie name) in the small Champagne-region village of Vinay — between Reims and Épernay on the southern edge of the Côte des Blancs sub-appellation, the Chardonnay-dominant strip of the Champagne wine region. The property was acquired in 1996 by the Devleeschauwer family of Champagne (the family behind several local Champagne-grower properties) and operated under family ownership through to the comprehensive 2010-2012 renovation that established the current five-star programme. The hotel is set on a 1.5-hectare landscaped park surrounded by working Premier Cru Côte des Blancs vineyards.
The 42 rooms — including 6 named suites — are arranged across the building's three floors. Standard categories at 28 sqm; Premium "Vineyard" categories at 38 sqm with the vineyard-facing window; the named Suites (Cuvée Suite, Bollinger Suite, Krug Suite, Champagne Suite) at 50-65 sqm are the milestone units. The Cuvée Suite at 65 sqm is the headline category. Bathrooms are travertine; bath products are Cinq Mondes.
Le 7 — the named principal restaurant, reopened with the 2012 renovation — runs a contemporary French register from chef Gilles Goujon (the chef who has held three Michelin stars at L'Auberge du Vieux Puits in Fontjoncouse since 2010 and operates Le 7 as his Champagne-region residency). The Le 7 kitchen has held one Michelin star continuously since 2014. The 1,500-bottle Champagne cellar is more focused than the Crayères or Royal Champagne collections — Devleeschauwer-curated grower-Champagnes plus selected grandes-marques. Le Bistrot du 7 is the all-day brasserie programme. The 18-metre indoor heated pool is the property's principal architectural advantage relative to the Crayères competition; the Spa Cinq Mondes — opened with the 2012 renovation — runs five treatment rooms with the brand's signature programmes.
The Vinay position — directly between Reims (40 minutes north) and Épernay (12 minutes north) — is the booking trade-off relative to the in-Reims and Champillon-clifftop alternatives. From the property it is 12 minutes to Épernay's Avenue de Champagne (the principal tasting-room axis with Moët et Chandon, Pol Roger, Pierre Mignon, Mercier, de Castellane), 40 minutes to Reims, 50 minutes to Reims-Champagne TGV, and 90 minutes by car to Paris-Charles de Gaulle. For travellers wanting the spa-and-Champagne booking with the Cinq Mondes register, La Briqueterie is the right answer.
For the slow-Champagne booking centred on the Spa Cinq Mondes programme and the 18-metre indoor pool, La Briqueterie is the right answer at the price tier just below Royal Champagne. Three- to five-day stays book a Cuvée Suite for the duration with the daily spa programme as the operational structure.
A milestone-anniversary booking with the Cuvée Suite, dinner at Le 7 paired with grower-Champagne from the cellar, and the spa programme through the morning. The Cinq Mondes service register handles these without ceremony.
For honeymoons in Champagne wanting the spa-driven register at the price tier just below Royal Champagne — particularly for the Épernay-and-Avenue-de-Champagne tasting circuit — La Briqueterie is the right answer. Vineyard categories with the Premier Cru window.
