Family Wellness Anniversary Resort

"The Olympic Valley resort that 1996 forgot, comprehensively relaunched in 2022 as something genuinely new — three heated pools and waterslides, the only nine-hole resort golf course in Tahoe, ski-in / ski-out via the Squaw Creek lift, and a 405-room footprint that finally has the operating standard to match the bones."

The Hotel

Everline Resort & Spa occupies the same 600-acre Olympic Valley parcel that opened in November 1990 as the Resort at Squaw Creek — at the time the most ambitious mountain resort built in California in a generation, and the only large-scale full-service property at the foot of what was then Squaw Valley (host of the 1960 Winter Olympics, renamed Palisades Tahoe in September 2021). The property went through a series of ownership transitions across the 2010s before Hyatt acquired the management contract; in October 2022 the resort closed for a comprehensive multi-month re-launch and reopened in December 2022 as Everline Resort & Spa, part of the Hyatt Destination by Hyatt portfolio. The relaunch retained the architectural envelope (the dramatic stone-and-glass mountain lodge by Bull Stockwell Allen) and gutted nearly every interior public space and guest room.

The 405 keys are arranged across the main lodge's nine floors, with mountain-view rooms looking south into the Palisades Tahoe bowl and meadow-view rooms (the higher categories) looking north across the Olympic Valley meadow to the Sierra Crest. Standard Everline Rooms run 415 square feet — generous by 1990s build standards — with the new contemporary mountain palette (warm whites, oxidised iron, locally-sourced timber, oversized photography of Sierra Nevada trail maps). Suites range from one-bedroom Junior Suites to the Presidential Suite (an 1,800-square-foot top-floor unit with a private terrace looking up at Tram Face). Every room has a gas fireplace and a private balcony.

Six Peaks Grille is the headline dining room — contemporary Sierra Nevada under executive chef John Brenner, in the original double-height stone-and-glass dining hall on the meadow side. Sandy's (the all-day venue), Cascades (the lobby bar), and the seasonal Stixx (poolside grill) round out the dining. The 21,000-square-foot Loyle Spa was rebuilt entirely in the relaunch with eighteen treatment rooms, a co-ed mineral pool, separate men's and women's lounges with their own steam and sauna, and a fitness centre with views directly onto the meadow. The three heated outdoor pools — the family pool with two waterslides, the adults-only quiet pool, and the lap pool — sit on the slope-side terrace year-round.

The on-property nine-hole resort golf course (Robert Trent Jones Jr.) is unique at Lake Tahoe — no other resort holds an on-site course. The Funitel and Olympic Tram base stations of Palisades Tahoe sit a 10-minute walk or 3-minute shuttle from the lobby; in winter the Squaw Creek chairlift loads directly from the property's ski concierge for ski-in / ski-out access. Summer programming runs to Olympic Valley meadow hiking, mountain biking, fly fishing on the Truckee River, and Lake Tahoe boating from the resort's North Shore beach access. The Camp Hyatt children's programme runs full-day age-graded activities winter and summer. The relaunched property is finally operating at the standard the bones always deserved.

Best Occasion Fit

Family Holiday

For Olympic Valley family ski weeks Everline is the strongest choice. Connecting rooms book without negotiation; the family pool with two waterslides handles ages 4–14; the Camp Hyatt programme runs full-day; the Squaw Creek chairlift loads directly from the property; the on-site nine-hole golf course handles summer; the meadow trails handle the youngest guests. Six Peaks Grille handles a children's menu without making it feel like a children's restaurant.

Wellness Retreat

For Sierra Nevada wellness stays the rebuilt Loyle Spa is the strongest single facility at Lake Tahoe — eighteen treatment rooms, the largest co-ed mineral pool in the basin, full hammam, daily yoga and meditation in the studio overlooking the meadow. Multi-night spa packages combine the daily treatment with guided meadow walks and forest-bathing sessions. The adults-only quiet pool gives the daytime infrastructure.

Anniversary

For mountain anniversaries that need both a substantial hotel and proximity to Palisades Tahoe ski terrain Everline delivers cleanly. A meadow-view Junior Suite for the long-weekend version, the Presidential Suite for the milestone version, dinner at Six Peaks Grille both nights, the Loyle Spa for couples treatments, the Squaw Creek lift for the morning ski. Significantly more accessible pricing than the Ritz at Northstar across the basin.
