"The address that comes up when concierges at Plaza Athénée and Four Seasons George V are full — and the only one of those overflows that you can credibly describe as a destination in its own right."

The Hotel

Hôtel de la Trémoille occupies an 1883 Haussmannian mansion at 14 rue de la Trémoille, 75008, named for the noble Trémoille family whose Paris hôtel particulier originally stood on the adjacent plot. The building has operated as a hotel continuously since the 1900 Paris Exposition; the property was acquired by independent ownership in the early 2000s and underwent a comprehensive room-by-room renovation programme between 2015 and 2020 that brought every category up to contemporary five-star standard while preserving the building's Haussmannian envelope, oeil-de-bœuf windows, original moulded ceilings and the marble entrance hall. The hotel is now part of the Stayed Hotels independent five-star collection.

The 93 rooms are arranged across the building's six floors with the better categories on floors three through six looking down rue de la Trémoille toward Avenue Montaigne or onto the rear courtyard. The room palette is restrained — taupe and ivory, brushed brass, period-correct mouldings preserved on every ceiling, parquet de Versailles flooring, fabrics by Pierre Frey. Standard Deluxe rooms run 22-28 sqm, the Junior Suite category at 32-40 sqm, the named suites (the Eiffel Suite, the Trémoille Suite, the Heritage Suite) are 50-70 sqm. The Eiffel Suite on the sixth floor has a private balcony with line-of-sight to the Eiffel Tower; the Trémoille Suite has a working fireplace and a separate dressing room. Marble bathrooms with Hermès toiletries throughout.

Senso is the property's restaurant — an Italian-French dining room run by chef Cyril Lugan with a wood-and-glass interior by interior designer Stéphanie Ledoux, with a courtyard garden that opens for outdoor lunch service from May through September. The Lobby Bar is the property's evening room, a small wood-panelled set piece that operates 5 PM to midnight and reflexively handles the hotel's regular discreet-clientele bookings — financial industry guests on Avenue Montaigne business, fashion industry guests during Fashion Week, and the regular returning anniversary clientele who know the hotel well. The fitness room and small spa with two treatment rooms are on the lower ground floor.

The position is the proposition that justifies the rate. Avenue Montaigne — the most concentrated luxury-fashion shopping street in the world (Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Givenchy) — is one minute east on foot. The Plaza Athénée is two minutes; the Four Seasons George V three minutes; the Bvlgari Hotel Paris two minutes. The Champs-Élysées is three minutes. CDG is 35 minutes by car. Hôtel de la Trémoille's positioning is precise: the discreet five-star alternative for guests who want the Triangle d'Or address without the Belle Époque palace declaration, and for clients of the Avenue Montaigne flagships who want privacy on the way back to the room.

Best Occasion Fit

Anniversary

For an anniversary that prioritizes Avenue Montaigne shopping, restaurant proximity, and discretion over Belle Époque grandeur, Hôtel de la Trémoille is the precise answer. The Eiffel Suite for the milestone version with its balcony line of sight; the Trémoille Suite for the heritage version with the working fireplace. Senso's courtyard for spring-summer dinners; the Lobby Bar for the reliably-quiet aperitif.

Honeymoon

For Paris honeymoons that want the 8th-arrondissement address without the price ceiling of the palace tier, Hôtel de la Trémoille at €620/night gives access to the Avenue Montaigne quarter at roughly half the rate of George V or Plaza Athénée. The Junior Suite category as the standard honeymoon booking; the Eiffel Suite for the upgrade. Senso for breakfast in the courtyard; the concierge for the Eiffel Tower private-elevator booking.

Business

For 8th-arrondissement business stays where the priority is Avenue Montaigne fashion-house and Champs-Élysées corporate proximity rather than a banking-finance lobby presence, the Trémoille is the precise booking. Three meeting rooms (the Salle Trémoille for boardroom-format up to 14, the Lounge Bar for private events up to 30, the Senso private dining for chef-led working dinners up to 16). George V Métro is three minutes north; Alma-Marceau three minutes south.
