"The independent five-star equidistant from the Madeleine and the Place Vendôme that does not act independent. One Michelin star at Le Baudelaire, fourteen-metre indoor pool, the rue Saint-Honoré shopping at the door. The 1st arrondissement five-star with the smallest opinion of itself."

The Hotel

Hôtel Le Burgundy Paris opened on 30 September 2010 at 6-8 rue Duphot, in the 1st arrondissement immediately south of the Place de la Madeleine. The hotel occupies two combined Belle Époque buildings (numbers 6 and 8) restored over a five-year programme by the French architect Bernard Dubois and the interior designer Bambi Sloan, who later went on to design the public floors of Saint James Paris. The Belle Époque exterior was preserved intact; the interiors were comprehensively rebuilt to take a contemporary five-star programme that the original residential floor plates could not have supported. The building is two minutes' walk from Place Vendôme to the south, three from the Place de la Madeleine to the north, four from the rue Saint-Honoré shopping core to the east, and ten from the Tuileries Gardens.

The 59 rooms (including 9 suites) are arranged across the seven historic floors of the combined buildings. Standard rooms run 25-35 sqm in two principal categories — Classic and Superior — with the Junior Suite category at 40 sqm and the named suites larger. The Burgundy Suite is the property's signature 75-square-metre top-floor unit, with a private 12-square-metre balcony facing the rue Duphot and a sightline that catches the Madeleine portico to the north. Bathrooms throughout are full Carrara marble; the hotel uses Hermès amenity programme. Rooms have a contemporary register — quieter palette than the Place Vendôme palace stock, no excess gilt, with selected pieces of original 19th-century French art preserved from the buildings' previous residential use.

Le Baudelaire — the ground-floor restaurant — has held one Michelin star continuously since 2014 and is currently in its third chef tenure. Pierre Rigothier, who took the role in 2022 from Le Bristol's Épicure, runs a contemporary French menu with a tasting and à la carte programme; the dining room is glazed-roof double height with a winter garden register. Charles Bar — the lobby cocktail bar named for Charles Baudelaire, the original 19th-century resident of one of the two buildings — handles the aperitif and after-dinner programme with a modest signature cocktail list and a serious champagne programme. The hotel does not run an afternoon tea service in the British register; the Charles Bar handles afternoon café.

The Sothys Spa on the lower-ground level — the largest indoor spa programme in any 1st arrondissement Paris hotel — runs 350 square metres with a 14-metre lap pool (the longest of any 1st arr. hotel pool), hammam, sauna, and four treatment rooms. The spa programme is the brand's flagship Paris hotel siting; treatments include the Sothys signature Sève de Bouleau ritual and a couples' programme with private suite use. The hotel runs a small (two-person) gym to a Technogym standard. Le Burgundy is independently owned and operated under the Maison du Burgundy banner; it is unaffiliated with any global five-star group, which is a deliberate ownership choice to preserve operational discretion. Service is consistently rated as the standout component of the property — 110 staff for 59 rooms, a 1.86:1 ratio that is among the highest in the Paris five-star inventory.

Best Occasion Fit

Honeymoon

Honeymooners booking a Place Vendôme-adjacent first Paris chapter find Le Burgundy the calmer alternative to the Ritz or Mandarin. Junior Suites for the standard booking; the Burgundy Suite for a milestone version. The 14-metre indoor pool runs quiet in the morning; Le Baudelaire handles the dinner. The location puts every important shop and gallery in the 1st arrondissement within a six-minute walk.

Anniversary

A Paris anniversary at Le Burgundy is the calibrated choice for couples returning to Paris and ready for a smaller five-star with a Michelin-starred restaurant downstairs. Charles Bar for cocktails, Le Baudelaire for dinner, the spa for a couples' treatment programme the following morning. The 1st arrondissement location means every important Paris monument is within a fifteen-minute walk.

Business

For Paris business stays where the brief is "Place Vendôme location, Michelin restaurant in the building, smaller hotel where the front desk knows you," Le Burgundy is the deliberate choice. Charles Bar handles the after-meeting drink; Le Baudelaire handles the working dinner; the meeting rooms on the first floor seat ten in natural-light. Five-minute walk to LVMH headquarters and the principal banking towers on the rue de la Paix.
