About The Camby Hotel

The Camby opened in 2015 as Marriott's Autograph Collection answer to a question Phoenix had not quite asked: what if the city's most polished hotel was also its silliest? Lodged inside a renovated 277-room tower at 24th Street and Camelback — the precise corner where the Biltmore Corridor begins — the property took a former corporate Ritz-Carlton and rewrote it as a maximalist design hotel. Hot pink, ocelot prints, gold sequinned ceilings, taxidermy peacocks, an oversized bronze rabbit in the lobby. The result is a hotel that looks nothing like the desert outside it, which is precisely the point.

The 277 rooms and suites continue the playful brief without tipping into kitsch. Custom headboards, brass-accented millwork, walk-in showers with rainshowers, deep soaking tubs in the higher categories, and views split between Camelback Mountain to the north and Piestewa Peak to the east. Camelback-facing rooms on floors eight through eleven are the ones to ask for — the mountain at sunset, framed by your room's enormous windows, is one of the more theatrical free amenities in Phoenix. Suites add separate living rooms; the Penthouse Camby Suite is the ringer for bachelorette parties and milestone celebrations.

Artizen Crafted American Kitchen, the ground-floor restaurant, is the dining room of record. The kitchen leans on Arizona producers — Schreiner's sausage, Crow's Dairy goat cheese, Queen Creek olive oil — and serves a breakfast that brings in non-guests from across the corridor. The Camby Cocktail Lounge, immediately adjacent, is the ARTbar concept made concrete: rotating commissioned art on every wall, an extensive agave list, and a bar staff that treats a paloma with the same care a Manhattan would warrant. Together they handle most of what a guest needs without ever requiring a car.

The rooftop pool is the property's social centre. Set on the eleventh floor with a clean line-of-sight to Camelback Mountain, it is the rare urban Phoenix pool that doubles as a destination rather than a courtesy. Cabanas, a small bar, well-managed temperature in summer, and a DJ on weekend afternoons during high season. The fitness centre, two floors below, is genuinely well-equipped, and the Camby's spa partnerships in the Biltmore Fashion Park — a five-minute walk — fill in the wellness gap with Phoenix's better facialists and massage therapists.

Location is the underrated argument. The Biltmore Corridor — Camelback Road from 16th Street to 32nd Street — is the Valley's densest cluster of restaurants, shopping and offices, and The Camby sits at the geographic centre of it. Biltmore Fashion Park is across the street. The original Arizona Biltmore Resort is a four-minute drive north. Sky Harbor airport is fifteen minutes south. For business travellers, this is the easiest hotel in Phoenix to use as an office; for couples and groups, it is a hotel you can leave on foot, which in this city is unusual enough to count as a feature.

Best Occasion Fit

Anniversary

For the anniversary that wants champagne and wit rather than a candlelit hush, The Camby delivers. Book a Camelback-facing suite, dinner at Artizen on arrival night, and cocktails at the ARTbar before retiring upstairs. The rooftop pool at sunrise — usually empty before nine — is the morning ritual that makes the trip. The concierge can pre-arrange a Penthouse Camby Suite upgrade for milestone anniversaries, plus an Artizen private dining setup if you prefer not to leave the building.

Bachelor/Bachelorette

The Camby is one of the best bachelorette hotels in the American Southwest, and its calendar reflects it. The rooftop pool, the Camby Cocktail Lounge, the Penthouse Camby Suite, and the walking distance to Biltmore Fashion Park combine into a self-contained weekend that does not require a car. Reserve a poolside cabana on Saturday afternoon, a private dining room at Artizen for the rehearsal-style dinner, and brief the concierge in advance — they have a polished playbook for groups of eight to twelve.

Business

For the Phoenix business traveller, The Camby is the most efficient address in the city. The Biltmore Corridor location puts you within walking distance of more corporate headquarters and law firms than any other Phoenix hotel. Reliable WiFi, a quiet club-style lobby that doubles as an unofficial workspace, an excellent ground-floor restaurant for client breakfasts, and a fifteen-minute Sky Harbor transfer. Book a north-facing executive room above the eighth floor — the Camelback view at the end of a long meeting day is the small luxury that justifies the brand premium.
