Banyan Tree Phuket opened in 1995 on Bang Tao Bay on Phuket's west coast as the founding property of the Banyan Tree brand and as Asia's first all-villa luxury resort — the property that essentially invented the private-pool-villa category that would later define Asian luxury hospitality.
