Taj Aravali Resort & Spa Udaipur is the Taj Group's mountain-resort property for the Mewar region, opened in the late 2010s on a sloping hillside above the village of Bhujra in Girwa Tehsil — fourteen kilometres from Lake Pichola and the City Palace, twenty kilometres from Maharana Pratap Airport, and set inside the Kodiyat Forest Chowki area where the Aravali range begins. The site is roughly 50 acres of terraced hillside; the buildings are arranged across seven levels, descending the slope from the entry at the top, with the lobby, the principal restaurants, and the spa on the upper terraces and the rooms, villas, and pool decks on the lower ones. The architectural register is contemporary Rajasthan rather than literal heritage — sandstone facades, jharokha-style window detailing, traditional jali screens — but the room product is current-decade five-star rather than antique-furnished.

The 181-key inventory runs across rooms, suites, villas, and luxury tents — the most varied accommodation portfolio of any Udaipur five-star. Standard rooms are 38–42 square metres with a king bed, freestanding tub, and private balcony facing either the gardens or the Aravali range. Premier categories add a sit-out and larger window apertures. The suite categories — Junior Suite, Aravali Suite, Presidential Suite — handle the higher inventory. The villa programme is the headline differentiator: each villa includes an elegant living-and-dining room, a separate bedroom, a private plunge pool, and an outdoor deck — the only Udaipur five-star with a meaningful private-plunge-pool villa inventory at the resort scale (the Oberoi has a smaller pool-villa programme; the others largely don't). The luxury tent category — the Tented Suites — provides a Sujan-or-Aman-style tented room with hardscape bathroom and air-conditioning, the Indian-luxury-tented format adapted for Udaipur.

The food-and-beverage programme runs across three principal rooms. Khaas, the all-day venue, runs Indian and continental buffet plus à-la-carte through breakfast, lunch and dinner with the regional specialties — laal maas, safed maas, gatte ki sabji — properly represented. Devra is the speciality dining programme, a contemporary Rajasthani tasting-menu room running through the season. Kanva is the bar and lounge with sundowner programming on the terrace facing west across the Aravali. The J Wellness Circle spa programme — shared template with the City Palace HRH properties — runs ten treatment rooms, an Ayurvedic consultation programme, and the city's most-developed yoga programme with morning sessions on the spa terrace. The infinity pool is set on the lower terraces facing the hillside.

The structural trade-off is location: Taj Aravali is a fourteen-to-twenty-kilometre transfer from City Palace and Lake Pichola — twenty-five to thirty-five minutes by hotel transfer in normal traffic — which puts the property out of walking range of any of Udaipur's headline attractions. For travellers who want to be at the lakefront, the Taj Lake Palace, the Oberoi Udaivilas, the Leela, and the Shiv Niwas / Fateh Prakash properties are the answers. For travellers who prioritize larger rooms, plunge-pool villa inventory, mountain views, and a calmer pool-and-spa-driven stay over the lakefront circuit, Taj Aravali is the right call. The hotel runs a complimentary scheduled shuttle to the City Palace and Bagore-ki-Haveli twice daily.
