"Newest cliff-edge, private beach, 50s Italian-Riviera tile palette, the modern-classic anniversary."
Borgo Santandrea opened in 2022 as one of the newest five-star properties on the Amalfi Coast, a full restoration of a 1960s cliffside hotel into a 45-key retreat of 29 rooms and 16 suites, perched 90 metres above the sea between Positano and Amalfi, overlooking the fishing village of Conca dei Marini. Nearly every room has a private terrace; the upper-tier Borgo Santandrea Suite with plunge pool is the anniversary flagship. The restoration, directed by architect Rino Gambardella, runs a mid-century Italian-Riviera palette of hand-painted majolica tiles (cobalt blue, lemon yellow, terracotta) drawn from the owner's collection, which has made it one of the most design-coherent contemporary hotels on the coast and a memorable backdrop for an anniversary. Alici, the cliffside restaurant under chef Crescenzo Scotti, holds one Michelin star and is the anniversary-dinner room; a private beach club, reached by a cliffside elevator, gives the hotel direct sea access that most Amalfi properties lack. The honest caveat is access and price: the position is dramatic but car-free and steep, and rates sit firmly in the coast's top tier. Borgo Santandrea suits the contemporary-classic anniversary couple who want design, privacy and a private beach over a historic grande-dame address.

Take the cliffside elevator to the private beach for an early swim. Book Alici for the anniversary dinner; the cliff-edge tables are the ones to request. The majolica-tiled pool photographs best in late-afternoon light.
Borgo Santandrea sits within our broader Top 20 Hotels on the Amalfi Coast for an Anniversary list. It scored an aggregate 9.7/10 across the three editorial criteria, competitive against the field but, on an anniversary-specific factors, the angle above is what earned its rank. For the alternatives in the same Amalfi Coast neighbourhood, see Conca dei Marini and adjacent. For a different city entirely, see the related lists below.
If you have already chosen the dates, our editor recommends booking the room twelve weeks ahead. The view-facing suites disappear earliest, and high-season inventory moves on a timescale of months, not weeks. Top-category rooms with private pools or terraces, the reason this hotel ranks here, are routinely the first gone.
