The Chaidemenos family has run Canaves in Oia since 1985, when Anna and Ioannis Chaidemenos converted two cliffside wine caves into suites. Canaves Oia Epitome opened in 2017 as the third property in the Chaidemenos family's Canaves Oia portfolio (after Canaves Oia Suites in 1985 and Canaves Oia Boutique in 2002), and as the family's deliberate response to the international shift toward all-villa, every-pool-private inventory that defined the late-2010s luxury programme.
