"Nobody books a Hampton Inn for the romance. They book it because the room will be clean, the breakfast will be hot, and the rate will be half of the inns downtown. On the Boundary Street strip, six minutes from the waterfront, this one does exactly what the brand promises."

The Hotel

The Hampton Inn Beaufort sits on Boundary Street, the commercial corridor that carries traffic between the historic district to the south and the Marine Corps Air Station and Parris Island connector road to the north. It is a three-story, exterior-corridor brand property of the kind Hilton has refined into a science, 76 rooms, two of them junior suites, opened in 1998 and refurbished on the standard franchise cycle. There is no Lowcountry conceit here, no faux-shingle exterior dressed to mimic the downtown inns, and that honesty is part of the appeal. The hotel is not pretending to be a historic Beaufort property; it is a clean, well-run roadside hotel positioned where a clean, well-run roadside hotel makes sense.

Rooms run from 280 to 350 square feet across King and Double Queen configurations, with a small number of suites that add a sitting area and a sleeper sofa. The hardware is the current Hampton package, white duvet over a heavy spread, blackout drapes, work desk, mini-refrigerator and microwave in every room, and a wall-mounted 49-inch television. Bathrooms are tile-and-vinyl with Neutrogena amenities. Carpet in the corridors, vinyl plank in the rooms after the last refresh. Nothing here will surprise a Hilton Honors member who has stayed at a hundred Hamptons, which is precisely the contract the brand offers.

Public spaces are limited and functional. The lobby holds a small business center with two PCs and a printer, a reception desk staffed twenty-four hours, and the breakfast room that opens onto a seasonal outdoor pool deck. Hot breakfast is included in every rate, six to ten on weekdays, six to eleven on weekends, with the rotating Hampton spread of waffles, eggs, sausage, oatmeal, fresh fruit and an espresso machine. There is no restaurant or bar, no spa, no concierge in the traditional sense. The pool is the property's only real amenity and it closes for the cooler half of the year, October through March, when the deck is locked.

Service across the property is friendlier than the brand average, a Lowcountry signature that quietly makes the difference between this Hampton and an identical one in a city without it. Front desk staff know the Beaufort food scene, know what time the boat tours leave from the marina, and know which of the downtown restaurants will hold a table on short notice. Parking is free and surface-level. WiFi is included and tested adequate for video calls in every room. The hotel does a brisk weekday business with Parris Island family visitors and Boundary Street contractors, and a brisk weekend business with overflow from the historic-district inns when those book out, which they regularly do.

Best Occasion Fit

Business

For a one or two night business stop in Beaufort, the Hampton Inn is the clean answer. Free parking, free breakfast, free WiFi tested adequate for video calls, and a rate that will not draw a finance team's attention. The Boundary Street position cuts ten minutes off any drive to the medical campus, the air station, or the county complex. Ask for a King room on the back side of the building; the parking-lot face gets the morning sun and the highway noise.

Family Holiday

For families visiting a Parris Island recruit graduation, this is the property that works at scale: ample double-queen inventory, a pool for the kids the afternoon between events, and easy access to the air station Friday parade route. The downtown inns are pretty but their narrow staircases and single-bed cottages do not absorb a four-person family with luggage. The Hampton does, six minutes from the same restaurants.
