Holiday Inn & Suites Beaufort at Highway 21, exterior

Holiday Inn & Suites Beaufort

A 97-room IHG property on the Boundary Street commercial corridor at Highway 21, holding the largest suite inventory in the city, with a workmanlike formula that the inns downtown cannot match for groups, multi-night family stays, and Parris Island graduation weekends.

#10 in Beaufort
Business Family Holiday City Center

"The largest suite inventory in Beaufort, by some margin, in a building that does not pretend to be anything other than what it is. For a Parris Island graduation that has pulled in three generations and a flight from the Midwest, this is the address that fits the family."

The Hotel

The Holiday Inn & Suites Beaufort opened in its current configuration after a substantial renovation in 2016 and sits a hundred yards down Boundary Street from the Hampton Inn, sharing the same business district position at the Highway 21 junction. It is a three-story, interior-corridor building of 97 keys, the larger half of which (52 rooms) are designated as Suites, a category that adds a separated living area with a sleeper sofa and a 37-inch flat-screen television to the standard guest room. That suite count is the property's distinguishing fact in Beaufort, no other hotel in the city carries comparable inventory, and it shapes the entire booking pattern.

Standard rooms run 330 to 380 square feet in King or Double Queen configurations. Suites stretch to 540 square feet and add a wet bar with a microwave, a small refrigerator, and a Keurig coffeemaker. The hardware is the current IHG package after the 2016 refresh: oak-tone case goods, charcoal upholstery, grey-tile bathrooms with combination tubs, and the heavy white-and-grey IHG bedding that has become the brand signature. WiFi is included and runs better in this building than it does at most properties in the price band; in-room testing during peak hours delivers consistent 50 megabit speeds, adequate for streaming video and conference calls in parallel.

Public spaces match the larger room count. The lobby holds a proper breakfast room separate from the lounge area, with a complimentary hot breakfast served six to ten weekdays and seven to eleven on weekends. There is an indoor pool and a small fitness room, both of which are open year-round, the only Beaufort hotel in the chain segment with an indoor pool. A modest meeting room behind reception sleeps thirty for graduation-week family gatherings and is the most-used reservation on the calendar between March and October. There is no full-service restaurant on site; a Marco's, a Chick-fil-A, and a Buffalo Wild Wings sit within a five-minute walk for the basic dinner pattern.

Service is consistent rather than memorable. The staff is local, long-tenured, and warm in the Lowcountry way, particularly at the front desk and breakfast counter. Parking is free and on the south side of the building, away from Boundary's traffic noise. The hotel is fourteen minutes by car from the Parris Island visitor gate, eight minutes from the historic waterfront, and the standard Tuesday-arrival, Friday-graduation booking pattern is the operational backbone of the property. Pets are welcome with a fee. The Holiday Inn pulls in the steady share of graduation weekends and military relocation traffic, and that base is what keeps the property's standard high through the off-season.

Best Occasion Fit

Family Holiday

For a multi-generational Beaufort trip, this is the property that absorbs three rooms across one floor without complication. The suite count means grandparents, parents, and two cousins can all be on the same corridor; the indoor pool runs year-round, which the Hampton next door does not; and the meeting room handles the inevitable family dinner the night before a graduation. The historic-district inns are charming for two; for six travelling together, this is the one that actually works.

Business

For business travel, the Suite category is the operational headline. Room 320 and similar configurations give a separate desk area with a door that closes, room enough for a small one-on-one meeting in the suite if needed, and the only quiet workspace in the chain segment in this market. The IHG points programme and the predictable corporate rate seal the booking. Ask for a top-floor suite; the building runs cooler in summer up there and the lot noise drops noticeably.
