Sir Savigny Hotel Berlin

44 rooms on Kantstrasse 144 — the Sircle Collection's Berlin flagship designed by Tel Aviv-based Saar Zafrir, with Baranowitz + Kronenberg architecture, the most curated mid-tier boutique on the Charlottenburg Kantstrasse strip and a regular Member of Design Hotels.

"Saar Zafrir's most considered Berlin work — Charlottenburg's brick-and-Art-Nouveau idiom translated into a 44-room boutique that reads like a small Amsterdam townhouse hotel transposed onto the Kantstrasse. Quietly expensive without ever shouting it."

The Hotel

Sir Savigny opened in 2014 as the first Berlin property in Sircle Collection — the Amsterdam-born luxury group behind Sir Adam, Sir Albert, the Pulitzer Amsterdam, and Park Centraal. The hotel sits at Kantstrasse 144 in west-Charlottenburg, a block south of Savignyplatz and three minutes' walk from the Theater des Westens. Architecture is by Baranowitz + Kronenberg — the Tel Aviv office responsible for several Sir Hotels properties — who treated the Wilhelmine-era brick envelope with deliberate restraint, retaining the original Charlottenburg streetfront and reorganising the interior plan around a courtyard light well. Interior design is by Saar Zafrir, also Tel Aviv, whose vocabulary of natural metals, stained ash, Belgian linen, and old-Dutch oil-portraiture references is the hotel's signature.

The 44 rooms are arranged across five storeys around the central courtyard. Standard categories — Petit, Boutique, Deluxe — run 22–28 square metres with custom-made furniture, custom lighting, well-stocked minibars curated to the Sircle book programme, vintage rugs, custom art, and queen-size beds. The Petit rooms (the smallest) are calibrated for solo or short-stay; the Deluxe rooms add a closed bathroom with bathtub or rain shower; the three Suites place a free-standing bathtub at the centre of the floor plan as the room's organising gesture. Some rooms face the Charlottenburg streetscape; others look across the inner courtyard. Every key carries the same Saar Zafrir lighting tableau and the same off-Broadway Art Nouveau register.

The Butcher is the hotel's ground-floor restaurant — a Sircle Group brand transplanted from Amsterdam, running a tight burger-and-craft-beer programme that has been consistently busy since opening and runs late. The Restaurant Sra Bua at the immediate adjoining Kempinski Bristol — three minutes' walk along Kantstrasse — has been the property's frequent half-board partner for serious dining. There is no spa, no pool, and no fitness suite of consequence; the property is a pure boutique-hotel operation. The lobby and the courtyard are the public-room amenities, and both are calibrated for daytime working as much as evening cocktails.

Position is the second proposition. Kantstrasse 144 is two minutes from Savignyplatz S-Bahn, four from Zoologischer Garten S+U-Bahn, six from Kurfürstendamm, and ten from the KaDeWe department store. The Theater des Westens, the Käthe-Kollwitz-Museum, and the Charlottenburg gallery district are within an eight-minute walk. Mitte is twenty minutes east; Berlinale Palast at Potsdamer Platz fifteen minutes by tram. For Berlin solo retreats, considered honeymoons that prefer mid-tier boutique to five-star scale, and anniversary weekends in the Charlottenburg register rather than the Mitte one, Sir Savigny is the right answer at the right tariff.

Best Occasion Fit

Solo Retreat

Sir Savigny is the Charlottenburg solo-retreat answer. The Petit category is calibrated for one — small, well-curated, with custom art and vintage rugs — and the lobby and the courtyard support all-day working. The Butcher handles a solo dinner without awkwardness; the Savignyplatz café scene is two minutes north; the Charlottenburg gallery district is the daytime amenity.

Honeymoon

A Berlin honeymoon two- or three-night base at Sir Savigny works because the Suites give the couple the room footprint and the architectural-romance register without the five-star tariff of Adlon or Regent. The free-standing-bathtub Suite categories are the romantic-architecture booking; the Schloss Charlottenburg fifteen minutes northwest is the day-out destination.

Anniversary

An anniversary calibrated to the Charlottenburg café-and-gallery scene, to the Theater des Westens, to the Komische Oper or the Berlin Philharmonic, and to a quieter mid-tier boutique register is Sir Savigny's strongest occasion brief. The Suite category is the milestone-year booking; the courtyard breakfast is one of the city's most considered.
