The Westin Poinsett occupies a full block on the southern half of Main Street at the corner of West Court Street, two blocks south of the Hyatt Regency and three blocks north of Falls Park. The building (designed by architects W.L. Stoddart and opened on June 1, 1925) is the surviving Beaux-Arts grand hotel of upstate South Carolina, a twelve-storey limestone-and-brick frame with the original two-storey grand lobby intact, the marble registration desk restored, and the historic ballroom (the Gold Ballroom) returned to its 1925 specification.
