The Hotel

Soho House Istanbul opened in March 2015 inside Palazzo Corpi — the 1873 Italian-baroque palace on Tomtom Kaptan Sokak in Beyoğlu that was the original US Consulate to the Sublime Porte from 1907 until 1937 and remained the US Consulate-General until 2003. Nick Jones's Soho House Group acquired the building from the Republic of Türkiye in 2010 and ran a five-year restoration (architectural studio Pera 35, working with the Istanbul Council for the Conservation of Monuments) that preserved the original Italian-painted ceilings, the carved-staircase, the original consul-residence rooms, and the courtyard. The group added the rooftop pool, the Allis restaurant, and the Cowshed Spa as new construction within the Council's restoration brief.

The 87 rooms run across the original Palazzo Corpi structure plus an adjoining 19th-century townhouse that Soho House acquired in parallel. Categories run from Tiny Rooms (16 sqm, the deliberately-small entry tier that the Soho House model is built around — bathroom, bed, desk) through Small Rooms (28 sqm), Medium Rooms (38 sqm), and Big Rooms (45 sqm with sitting area), to the named Forecourt Suite (75 sqm with private outdoor courtyard). The interior register is the Soho House signature — antique-leaning furniture pieces curated by Vicky Charles, parquet de Versailles floors throughout, original Anatolian textile commissions, the deliberate decision to keep TVs hidden behind cabinet doors, and the Cowshed bath product line in every category.

The members'-club extension is the structural distinction at Soho House Istanbul. Hotel guests have full access to the seven-floor club facilities — the Allis restaurant on the ground floor (the Mediterranean-Anatolian register that runs as the all-day restaurant), the Drawing Room cocktail bar on the second floor (Soho House signature), the screening room on the third, the Tomtom Cafeteria on the fourth, the Cowshed Spa with hammam on the fifth, and the rooftop pool with the Bosphorus-and-Galata-Tower sightline at the top. The cocktail bar's house Soho House Negroni is the most-recommended single drink in any Beyoğlu hotel; the rooftop runs structured DJ programming Friday and Saturday nights from May to October.

What makes Soho House Istanbul the considered alternative to the larger Beyoğlu and Bosphorus luxury hotels — and what places it on the design-hotel register rather than the heritage-hotel one — is the scale and the in-house club operation. The 87-room footprint is substantially smaller than the Pera Palace (115 rooms), the Ritz-Carlton Istanbul (244 rooms), or the Four Seasons Bosphorus (170 rooms), and the small footprint means the property reads as a private members' building with hotel rooms attached rather than a hotel with a club. The Beyoğlu location gives walking access to the Pera Museum, Galatasaray Square, the Galata Tower, the Istiklal Avenue artery, and the SALT Beyoğlu cultural centre — substantially the highest concentration of cultural-and-cocktail infrastructure anywhere in the city. For a solo retreat that wants Beyoğlu as the register, an anniversary that wants the design-hotel scale rather than the Bosphorus-palace one, or a multi-day art-and-culture stay, Soho House Istanbul is the most-considered choice.
