Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como opened in May 2019 (after a five-year restoration) in Blevio on the eastern shore of the lake — the quieter shore opposite Cernobbio's western-shore famous-villas concentration — in eight historic villas dating from the 19th and early 20th centuries that the developers acquired and connected as a single luxury resort. The seventy-three rooms and suites distributed across the eight villas show different architectural lineages — some Empire-period, some Belle Époque, some early Liberty (Italian Art Nouveau) — and all retain original parquet, frescoes, and period detailing.
