The Hotel

Auberge du Vin opened on 1 October 2018 as the boutique-hotel project of the Lurton family — Bordeaux's principal vineyard-owning family (André Lurton, Pierre Lurton, Bérénice Lurton — proprietors of Châteaux La Louvière, La Tour Blanche, Cheval Blanc and many others) who established Bodega Piedra Negra (formerly Bodega Lurton) in Vista Flores in 1998 as their Argentine vineyard project. The property occupies a 14-suite block adjoining the working winery, with the architectural brief deliberately subordinating the hotel building to the agricultural-and-winery character of the surrounding 18-hectare vineyard. The architectural commission was Argentine practice Eliseo Arquitectos with the deliberate Bordeaux-meets-Mendoza vocabulary: stone walls, tile floors, restored barrel-stave decorative work, and the central courtyard organised as a continental-French country-inn rather than a contemporary South American resort.

The 14 suites — including 4 Premier categories — are arranged across two single-storey wings flanking the central courtyard. Standard "Vintage" suites at 38 sqm include a private terrace facing the vineyard; Premier suites at 55 sqm add a fireplace and a larger sitting area. The Lurton Suite at 75 sqm is the milestone unit, with a private outdoor sitting area, an in-suite kitchen, and floor-to-ceiling Andes-facing windows. Bathrooms are travertine and brass; bath products are local Mendoza-Lurton-curated botanicals.

Cuatro Pasos is the principal restaurant — a contemporary Argentine-French register opened with the hotel — running a five-course tasting menu with paired Lurton-family wines from both the Bodega Piedra Negra estate and selected Bordeaux verticals. The Wine Cellar — accessed by descending the original 1998 Bodega Piedra Negra cellars — runs the Bordeaux-and-Mendoza tasting programme as the property's signature in-house experience. The 14-metre courtyard pool sits in the central courtyard. The Spa runs three treatment rooms with the Mendoza-grape-marc programme. The hotel runs daily Bodega Piedra Negra cellar tours through the working winery.

The Vista Flores position in the central Uco Valley is the booking trade-off relative to The Vines further south. From the property it is 80 minutes by car to central Mendoza, 80 minutes to Mendoza Airport (MDZ), 8 minutes to the principal Vista Flores wineries (Salentein, Andeluna), 12 minutes to the Vines Resort, and 35 minutes to Tunuyán. For travellers wanting the smallest, most-Bordeaux-influenced Uco Valley boutique — particularly for couples and small groups wanting the wine-residency register over the resort scale at The Vines — Auberge du Vin is the right answer.
