Branco opened in 2019 above the south end of Platis Gialos, the beach that runs from the eponymous bay to Psarou — a 12-minute walk south of Nammos and the boats out to Delos. The architectural brief was unusually consistent: every interior surface in white plaster, every textile in undyed linen or natural cotton, every fitting in stone or matt-brushed brass, no colour except what the sea, the sky, and the bougainvillea provide. The result is the most disciplined design hotel on Mykonos and the closest the island has come to the Aman or Six Senses architectural register that the international circuit has long expected here.
The 38 rooms and suites step up the slope across three low-rise buildings. Branco Sea View Rooms are the entry category — 30 square metres, a long sea-facing terrace, an outdoor lounger, no balcony railings to interrupt the view. Pool Suites add a four-by-three private plunge pool on the terrace; Premium Pool Suites add a 7-metre infinity pool oriented toward the bay; the headline category, the Branco Suite, is a two-bedroom corner unit with a 12-metre infinity pool, an outdoor dining pavilion, and a separate spa room. Every room has a Cabriolet bathtub from Antonio Lupi, every bathroom has Frette linens and Aesop products. The textile palette is the closest Mykonos comes to a Donna Karan beach-house aesthetic and the result is consistently photographed for the international design press.
The hotel's 18-metre infinity pool is oriented south over Platis Gialos and is the property's central public space — ringed by daybeds, served from the pool bar, and the location of most guests' breakfast through high season. The principal restaurant, Branco's, runs an Aegean-Mediterranean menu with a deliberately small, vegetable-forward card; the chef changes seasonally. There is no spa proper, but the 5-treatment-room wellness corner runs a tight programme of yoga, breathwork, and bodywork in association with the wellness consultancy Six Senses Place once ran in the Cyclades. The hotel runs a complimentary shuttle to its private beach club at the south end of Platis Gialos, with lounger reservations included for in-house guests.
Service is the property's quiet differentiator and where the Member of Design Hotels certification matters. The staff-to-room ratio is approximately one-to-two; the host programme assigns one team member per room for the duration of the stay; restaurant bookings, beach club logistics, and the discreet small interventions that distinguish boutique hotelkeeping run cleanly. The position above Platis Gialos (10 minutes by hotel car from Mykonos Town, 8 minutes from JMK Airport) trades the absolute peace of Elia for proximity to the south-coast beach scene without committing to it — Nammos is a 7-minute drive, the Princess of Mykonos is opposite, and the boats to Delos run from the bay directly below.
For Mykonos honeymoons that prioritise architectural register and quiet over scene, Branco is the answer. Pool Suites are the central honeymoon booking; Premium Pool Suites with the 7-metre infinity pool are the milestone version; the Branco Suite is the once-in-a-lifetime version. The textile palette, the disciplined interior, and the sunset Platis Gialos view are why couples who travelled to Aman in Asia want for a Mediterranean equivalent.
For Mykonos solo travel — surprisingly common, despite the party reputation — Branco is the answer. The architectural calm, the no-children convention, the early-morning yoga programme, and the room-service breakfast on a private terrace combine into the most considered Cyclades hideaway for solo guests who want to disappear into a book and a pool for a week.
For wellness-led Mykonos stays Branco runs the most disciplined programme on the island. The breathwork and yoga schedule runs daily; the 5-treatment-room wellness corner takes booking the day before; the breakfast and dinner cards are explicitly clean and seasonal; and the property's general reluctance to programme music or pool-bar entertainment makes it the rare island address where wellness genuinely operates as the central proposition.
