Stein Eriksen Lodge opened in 1982 at Silver Lake Village — Deer Valley Resort's mid-mountain residential pocket at 8,200 feet of elevation, ski-in/ski-out at the Silver Lake Express, and named for Norwegian Olympic gold medallist Stein Eriksen, who became Director of Skiing at Deer Valley when the resort opened in 1981. The lodge has been quietly run as the resort's flagship hotel for forty-four years across multiple ownership and management cycles; it added the Stein Eriksen Residences component in 2014, completed a major spa expansion in the late 2010s, and has been managed under the present operator since. The Norwegian-flag programming — the staff Norwegian flags at every check-in, the Christmas-Eve Norwegian dinner, the Glitretind name borrowed from a peak in Eriksen's home region — is integral rather than decorative.

The 180 rooms (the Lodge plus the Residences combined) span Lodge Luxury Bedrooms (the 700 sq ft entry inventory, which compares favourably to the standard rooms at any American mountain hotel) through Luxury Suites of 1,200 to 4,900 sq ft and one to five bedrooms. Every Luxury Suite has a kitchen, a living room with a stone or wood fireplace, jetted bathtubs, and either a private balcony or a deck; select suites have private outdoor hot tubs. The five-bedroom suites accommodate the resort's most senior multi-generational ski-week bookings. The Residences (newer construction adjacent to the original Lodge) add the contemporary residential one- to four-bedroom inventory, all serviced from the main Lodge concierge.

Glitretind is the lodge's flagship restaurant — a contemporary American kitchen with a strong Western-game programme, a wine list that has won Wine Spectator Grand Award recognition, and a dining room that has held its position as one of Utah's best for thirty years. Troll Hallen Lounge handles the all-day pour and après-ski; the Bandol-style outdoor patio runs through summer; the Sunday Champagne Brunch is the destination event Stein Eriksen Lodge is known for outside the property. The Spa at Stein Eriksen Lodge — at 23,000 sq ft and 16+ treatment rooms, with separate men's and women's relaxation rooms each running sauna, steam, and hot/cold plunge — has held Forbes Five-Star recognition continuously and is the wellness peer of Spa Montage at Empire Pass.

The position is the second commercial pillar.
