La Réserve Ramatuelle sits on a Mediterranean-facing hilltop above the village of Ramatuelle on the St-Tropez peninsula, at Chemin de la Quessine. The original property opened as a 1950s Côte d'Azur hotel; in the late 2000s, French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte was commissioned to reimagine the entire building. Wilmotte stripped the existing structures back to volumes and reconceived the property as sleek, flat-roofed, white-rendered architecture stepping down the hillside — the kind of pared-back coastal modernism that has shaped the next twenty years of Mediterranean luxury hotel design.
