Philippe Starck's wellness village above the Gigaro coast — 38 rooms and 6 suites in stepped Mediterranean houses, two restaurants, two pools, and 2,000 m² of dedicated wellness space.
"Philippe Starck imagined a wellness village above the Gigaro coast. Two thousand square metres of spa. Two restaurants. The St-Tropez detox at peninsula scale."
Lily of the Valley sits in the hills above La Croix-Valmer on the southern face of the St-Tropez peninsula, looking down to the Gigaro beaches. Philippe Starck designed the entire property — buildings, interiors, gardens, even the signature Villa W suite — around the brief of a "wellness village" that referenced both Californian villa architecture and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. The property opened in 2019, runs year-round (a rarity in St-Tropez), and is owned and operated by businessman Alain Weill, whose vision drove the wellness-led concept.
The 44 accommodations split between 38 rooms and 6 suites, distributed across stepped Mediterranean-style houses on the hillside. Every room and suite has a private terrace and sea view; the architecture pulls each accommodation into the surrounding gardens, with Starck's signature whimsy delivered through restrained Mediterranean palette: pale plaster, dark woods, contemporary art, deliberate cinematic detail. The Villa W — added in 2024 — is a Starck-designed signature suite with full villa configuration, private pool, and outdoor lounge. The property's architecture has been recognised across the Côte d'Azur design industry as the property that pushed wellness-led luxury hotel design forward in the late 2010s.
The 2,000 m² wellness centre is the property's anchor offering. Treatments use La Prairie products with the Camille Crenneur cosmeceuticals line. The spa runs multi-day Vital and Camille programmes — supervised wellness regimes built around metabolic testing, nutrition, fitness, and rest cycles. Two pools (one heated indoor, one outdoor), multiple gym studios, an indoor running track, hammam, sauna, and Watsu pool support the daily programme. Two restaurants split the dining: Vista handles the gastronomic dinner, while the more casual Maupiti delivers the daytime kitchen, both anchored to the property's wellness ethos with kitchen menus tuned to spa-programme nutrition where required.
The La Croix-Valmer location is 20 minutes from St-Tropez town and 5 minutes from the Gigaro beaches and the start of the spectacular Sentier du Littoral coastal walk. The property runs shuttle service to St-Tropez town and to Pampelonne; most guests focus on-property. Year-round opening is the property's other distinguishing feature on the peninsula — most St-Tropez five-stars close from October to April, while Lily of the Valley operates a winter wellness programme that draws northern European clientele through the off-season. For couples and solo travellers whose St-Tropez stay is built around the spa rather than the town, Lily of the Valley is the strongest answer on the peninsula.
The full Vital or Camille programme is the property's central offering: 5-7 night supervised regime with metabolic testing, daily treatments, nutrition planning, and fitness programming. Book the dedicated programme rather than treatments-by-day — the structured version is the value.
The St-Tropez honeymoon for couples whose first thought is the spa rather than the club. Book a Junior Suite with terrace and sea view. A couples' Vital programme of three days, dinner at Vista, and a Sentier du Littoral coastal walk fill the right rhythm.
The wellness programme structure, the year-round opening, and the property's tone (less couples-focused than the St-Tropez town hotels) make Lily of the Valley one of the few Côte d'Azur five-stars genuinely well-suited to solo travel. Book a Room with terrace and pair it with a 5-day wellness regime.
