The Hotel

The Shore Club Turks and Caicos opened in October 2017 as the deliberate Hartling Group answer to the Grace Bay-strip crowding problem. Hartling Group — the Caicos-based developer behind Grace Bay's The Palms and The Sands — had spent the early 2010s buying out the southeast corner of Long Bay Beach (the kite-surfing-and-shallows side of Providenciales, on the opposite side of the island from the higher-density Grace Bay strip) and built The Shore Club as the southeast Long Bay flagship. The location is the operational distinction: the only luxury all-suite resort on Long Bay's two-and-a-half kilometre frontage, no day-trip cruise traffic, and the in-residence access to one of the world's premier kite-surfing breaks.

112 all-suite accommodations are arranged in a low-rise plantation-style configuration along the beach, with a separate 36-villa neighbourhood at the eastern end of the property running multi-bedroom configurations to the four-bedroom Estate Villa — the largest single villa on Providenciales, which can be taken on whole-house rental at the very high end of the rate card. The suite footprints are large by Caribbean standards (entry-tier 75 sqm, the standard family unit at 140 sqm, the Penthouse Suites at 280 sqm) and every unit has either a beachfront balcony or a private plunge pool depending on category. The interior register is the Hartling Group house style — restrained Caribbean palette, high ceilings, plantation-shutter detailing.

Operationally The Shore Club runs the four-pool configuration that has become Hartling's signature: a quiet adults-only pool at one end of the property, a family pool with a children's beach attached, a social pool with a swim-up bar, and a fourth pool for the Estate villa neighbourhood. Three full-service restaurants run the on-property dining — Sui-Ren (the Peruvian-Japanese signature, the only fine-dining Nikkei kitchen on the island), Colonnade (the all-day Caribbean register), and the Beach Bar pool restaurant. The kite-surfing infrastructure is Long Bay's defining sport: the resort has its own kite school running on the in-residence beach (consistent 18-25 knot winter trade winds, knee-deep water for two hundred metres out from the beach makes it the global beginner's destination), and runs a paddle-board and stand-up snorkel programme alongside.

What gives Long Bay its differential against Grace Bay is the same thing that has historically held it back — the beach is shallow, with an extended shallow-water flat that stops short of the Princess Alexandra reef at high tide. For swimming-and-snorkelling-orientated guests the Grace Bay strip is the more immediate sell; for kite-surfers, paddleboard families, and guests who want the privacy of a single-resort beachfront without the daily cruise-day procession, Long Bay and The Shore Club is the more considered choice. The resort runs daily Princess Alexandra Marine Reserve snorkel-boat departures for guests who want the deeper-water Caribbean offer for a half-day. For a multi-generational family that needs villa inventory at the four-bedroom level, a honeymoon that wants the Long Bay quiet, or a kite-surfing-as-the-trip itinerary, The Shore Club is the most considered Providenciales answer.

Best Occasion Fit

Honeymoon

The Penthouse Suite or Beachfront Plunge Suite is the honeymoon unit at The Shore Club. The Long Bay positioning is the trade — quieter beach, no cruise traffic, world-class kite-surfing if either of you wants to take the lessons that come included in the higher rate categories. Pair five nights at The Shore Club with two nights at COMO Parrot Cay for the standard Turks-and-Caicos honeymoon arc; pair seven nights with three nights at Anguilla for a multi-island option.

Family Holiday

The 36-villa neighbourhood at the eastern end of The Shore Club is one of the strongest multi-bedroom inventories in the Caribbean — three- and four-bedroom units with private pool, dedicated villa-side family pool, and the option to combine villas for multi-generational parties up to twelve guests. The kids' club ages four-to-twelve runs alongside; older children get the kite-surfing school for ages eight-and-up — the only kite-school on Providenciales that takes children that young.
