Evok Collection's first Italian property, opened 15 June 2023 inside the former Venice Stock Exchange on Calle Larga XXII Marzo — 43 rooms behind the 1923 façade, the Palais Royal Venezia restaurant, and the only rooftop swimming pool inside Venice's San Marco core.
"The first serious post-pandemic Venice opening — and the only rooftop pool inside the San Marco core. Evok's quiet French confidence translated into a city that usually rejects new luxury, with a courtyard full of light that has no Venetian peer."
Nolinski Venezia opened on 15 June 2023 as the second Nolinski property after the original Nolinski Paris (opened 2016) and the first Italian hotel from Evok Collection — the privately-held French hospitality group founded by Emmanuel Sauvage that also operates Brach Paris, Cour des Vosges, and Sinner Paris. The building at Calle Larga XXII Marzo 2032 was the headquarters of the Venice Chamber of Commerce and Stock Exchange, completed in 1923 in a transitional Stile Liberty / Beaux-Arts mode by architect Giovanni Sicher. The conversion to a 43-room hotel preserved the listed Stock Exchange Hall as the lobby, the original double-height central courtyard as the indoor pool, and the entire 1923 marble staircase intact.
Interiors are by LemonBe (Le Coadic & Scotto), the Paris studio responsible for Brach and Cour des Vosges, working in a more restrained register than usual — Venetian terrazzo floors specially commissioned, custom textile wall-coverings in mineral tones, hand-blown Murano glass fittings throughout, and bespoke furniture in walnut and bronze. Forty-three rooms run from Classic Doubles at 28 square metres up to the Suite Royale at 95 square metres. The signature category is the Suite Penthouse with private rooftop terrace facing the Salute dome — booked six months ahead in season.
Palais Royal Venezia is the headline restaurant, sister to Palais Royal at Nolinski Paris (one Michelin star), opened in the former Stock Exchange Hall under chef Philip Chronopoulos with a Mediterranean-Venetian menu. The bar — Bar Nolinski — is in the original 1923 trading-floor ante-chamber. The Spa Nolinski occupies the former vault floor: a 16-metre indoor swimming pool under the original double-height courtyard skylight, two hammams, sauna, and four treatment rooms with a custom Sothys partnership. The rooftop pool — accessed by guests only, at the top of the building — is the property's strongest single proposition: a small (10-metre) heated infinity pool with a 270-degree San Marco panorama including the Salute dome, the Campanile of San Marco, and the Doge's Palace clearly visible.
The position is San Marco's "luxury-shopping spine" — Calle Larga XXII Marzo runs from the western edge of Piazza San Marco toward the Accademia Bridge and houses every major luxury brand in Venice. Harry's Bar is two minutes; Piazza San Marco is three minutes; the Accademia and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection are eight minutes; the Vallaresso vaporetto is three minutes. The Michelin Guide listed Nolinski Venezia in 2024, the year after opening — the most decorated Venice debut of the post-pandemic period.
For Venice honeymoons that prefer contemporary calm to historic theatre, Nolinski is the answer. The Suite Penthouse with rooftop terrace is the headline category; the indoor pool under the 1923 courtyard skylight is the morning ritual; Palais Royal at dinner; the rooftop pool at sunset. The hotel's three pools — indoor, rooftop, and the spa pool — are the most water inside the San Marco footprint.
The rooftop pool terrace at the right hour — late afternoon, the Salute glowing, no other guests since the hotel reserves the pool by appointment — is one of the strongest non-public proposal sightlines in Venice. The hotel will hold the rooftop terrace for a private booking; the Suite Penthouse is the natural overnight; dinner at Palais Royal finishes the evening. If she says no, the rooftop is private enough that nothing leaves the building.
The most contemporary serious anniversary option in Venice. The hotel scales cleanly: a Junior Suite for a quiet weekend, the Suite Royale for a milestone, the Suite Penthouse for a major year. Spa Nolinski is the most considered new wellness facility in San Marco; Palais Royal is the most decorated new restaurant in San Marco; the rooftop pool is the most photographed new feature in San Marco. The combination is unmatched among 2023–2026 openings.
