Twenty-two rooms designed by Michele Bonan, hovering above Marina Grande with the JK Beach Club on the sand below. The most romantic small hotel on the island.
"The 2007 Marina Grande boutique, the most design-led address on Capri."
Why this rank: JK Place Capri ranks here as the island's most design-driven hotel, a contemporary 2007 conversion of the former Hotel Palatium above Marina Grande, looking out over the Bay of Naples. Florentine designer Michele Bonan's interiors set it apart from Capri's grand old hotels. There are just 22 rooms and suites, among them the JK Suite with a private terrace, plus JKitchen for Mediterranean cooking and a rooftop for drinks. The catch is altitude: Marina Grande is at sea level by the ferry port, so the Piazzetta, the Gardens of Augustus, and the Faraglioni views are a funicular or taxi ride up. Book a sea-view suite and plan on transfers into town.
Best room: JK Suite, private terrace, sea view
"Twenty-two rooms, a private beach club, and Michele Bonan's English-country-on-the-Mediterranean palette. If you propose here, the hotel does the rest."
JK Place Capri opened in 2007 as the second property in Ori Kafri's small JK collection, Florence first, Capri second, Paris third, and remains the brand's most photographed. The setting is Via Provinciale Marina Grande 225, a three-minute walk from the ferry pier and the public beach. From the road the building reads as a private villa; from inside, every public room and most bedrooms face the Bay of Naples through tall arched windows. There are 22 rooms in total, including 8 suites, small enough that the staff knows every guest by the first morning.
Florentine designer Michele Bonan handled the interiors and his palette is the property's signature: soft pastels, patterned wallpapers, antique navigation prints, deliberate references to old English country houses transposed onto the Mediterranean. The effect is unfussy and lived-in rather than designed, the opposite of the stark, modernist Capri that some of the island's other hotels chase. The penthouse Master Suite has a long private terrace with panoramic Gulf of Naples views and is the room most often booked for honeymoons; the Junior Suites with sea-facing balconies are the smaller answer at half the price.
JK Restaurant runs the dining programme. The cuisine is contemporary Italian with the kitchen's characteristic restraint, local pasta, light sauces, the seasonal-fish tradition that Capri kitchens take seriously. The terrace at sunset is the most-photographed dinner in the property's archive. The JK Beach Club, on the sand at Marina Grande directly below the hotel, is the only fully private beach club operated by a Capri hotel, guests get reserved sun loungers, lunch service, and the small luxury of being able to walk down to the beach in five minutes rather than booking a Marina Piccola transfer.
The location at Marina Grande is the property's quiet point of contention. It is not in Capri Town, the Piazzetta is a 10-minute funicular up the hill, with the funicular running until midnight in season, and it is not in Anacapri. The beach access and ferry proximity are the trade-offs. For couples who want walking access to the Piazzetta, Quisisana or Punta Tragara are the better answers; for couples who want the boat-arrival, beach-club, and small-hotel-by-the-water version of Capri, JK Place is the property the others have been chasing for nearly twenty years.
The Capri honeymoon for couples who want the boutique-and-boat version. Book a Junior Suite with sea-view balcony or, for the splurge, the Master Suite with its private terrace. Lunch at the JK Beach Club, sunset dinner at the JK Restaurant terrace, and a boat morning to the Blue Grotto are the three days the staff plans by default.
The terrace at the Master Suite, the JK Beach Club at sunset, or a chartered boat from Marina Grande to the Faraglioni are the three settings the property arranges most. The 22-room scale means the proposal can be discreet, staff handle florists, photographers, and dinner choreography without alerting other guests.
The boutique scale and Michele Bonan rooms make this the right anniversary hotel for couples who already know Capri. The kitchen handles milestone dinners on the terrace with the discretion of a property the staff knows well, Sinatra-era Capri without the Sinatra-era hotel.

Editorial · #12 on the Top 20 Hotels on the Amalfi Coast 2026 list
JK Place Capri's case is design and intimacy rather than scale. It opened in 2007 as a contemporary conversion of the old Hotel Palatium, the work of Florentine designer Michele Bonan, and it is the most style-led hotel on the island.
There are just 22 rooms and suites, including the JK Suite with a private terrace, the Master Suite, and a multi-bedroom Royal Suite.
JKitchen serves Mediterranean cooking and the rooftop terrace runs the cocktail hour. What separates it from the clifftop Grand Hotel Quisisana or Anacapri's Capri Palace is position as much as style: it sits at Marina Grande, by the ferry harbour at sea level, with the Bay of Naples in view rather than the Faraglioni. Be honest about that trade-off, though: you are below Capri Town, so the Piazzetta and the island's headline views need the funicular or a taxi. Best for travellers who prize contemporary design and a small, personal hotel over a grand clifftop address.
