"The only Greenwich address with a private pier, a serious Provence-meets-Long-Island-Sound restaurant in l'escale, and 82 rooms quiet enough that you forget Manhattan is forty minutes south."

The Hotel

Delamar Greenwich Harbor opened in October 2002 on Steamboat Road, built hard against the water rather than set back from it, pairing a 500-foot private marina with a direct waterline reading of the Sound. The building is a European Revival composition in warm stucco and slate, looking east across the harbor toward Belle Haven, run since by the Greenwich Hospitality Group that founder Charles Mallory built around it. The 2025 guestroom remodel sharpened a property that was already among the cleanest expressions of New England waterfront hotel-keeping outside Newport.

The 82 rooms and suites range across four floors. Standard categories run from 320 to 380 square feet and are configured with king or two queen beds, marble bathrooms with deep tubs and separate showers, and the same quiet Federal-meets-coastal palette of putty grey, ivory linen, and oiled walnut. Every room offers either a harbor view across the boats or a town view onto Greenwich Avenue; the harbor-facing rooms on the upper floors are the booking. The seven suites add living rooms with working fireplaces and the largest, the Penthouse Suite, holds a private terrace with the best private view in the town.

The dining offer is l'escale, the property's Provencal-American brasserie that runs from 7am to 11pm and is the de facto Greenwich power-meal room. The cooking is precise rather than ambitious: a small daily-changing menu of crudo, simple pastas, and grilled local fish, paired with a 400-bottle list that leans hard on the Rhone and the Loire. The waterfront terrace seats 80 in season and is the most coveted lunch table in lower Fairfield County. Breakfast is a guest-of-the-house affair with a $25 daily credit per person, and the bar holds its own as a quiet pre-train cocktail room for the New York commuter set.

The spa is small, six treatment rooms operated by a consistent local team, and the fitness centre runs 24 hours with current-generation equipment. Service across the property leans warm and traditional rather than scripted; the front desk recognises returning guests on arrival and the doorman knows the Metro-North timetable. EV charging is on site, parking is complimentary, and the hotel's location, four minutes' walk to Greenwich Avenue's restaurants and shops and three minutes to the train, is the single most efficient luxury address between Manhattan and Boston.

Best Occasion Fit

Anniversary

A Delamar anniversary works because the property is the rare lower-Fairfield hotel that can stage a milestone without becoming a wedding venue for the night. Book a harbor-view king on the third floor, ask for the corner table at l'escale, and the operations team will quietly take care of the rest. The Penthouse Suite is the upgrade for major years; the private terrace is the only one of its kind in Greenwich.

Business

For business in lower Fairfield County, the Delamar is the most efficient overnight in the market. The hotel sits 800 feet from Greenwich station with direct Metro-North service to Grand Central, three small meeting rooms hold up to 30 people for board work, and l'escale at 7am is the most reliable power breakfast room between Manhattan and New Haven. Free parking and EV charging cover both inbound clients and the local commuter.

Proposal

If you are proposing on the harbor, this is the address. The Penthouse Suite terrace gives you a private waterline view at sunset; the dock can be quietly reserved for the moment itself; and l'escale's private dining room handles the dinner after. The hotel runs this play often enough that the concierge does not need to be told twice. The setting closes the question.
