"The functional Kelowna booking. Bigger rooms than its price band suggests, two working restaurants, and the only on-site spa in this category. Not designed to impress, designed to deliver."

The Hotel

The Coast Capri sits on Harvey Avenue at the geographic centre of downtown Kelowna, equidistant from the lakefront, the cultural corridor, and the south-end retail district. The building opened in 1974, was acquired by Coast Hotels in 2011, and completed a substantial renovation in 2019 that touched every room, the lobby, the meeting floor, and both restaurants. The property is the largest Coast Hotels property in the BC interior and serves as the brand's flagship for the Okanagan region. The building's footprint is wider than its competitors because the original 1970s development required generous parking, which becomes a quiet advantage for the contemporary guest, free on-site parking is included with every room rate.

The 185 rooms break across three categories. Standard king and double-queen rooms run a generous 35 to 40 square metres with a separate seating area, a 55-inch wall-mounted television, and an executive workspace. Many rooms include private balconies with views over the surrounding neighbourhood; the higher floors on the south side look out over Knox Mountain and the lake. The Capri Suites add a separate sitting room and a wet bar; the corner Capri Premium suites are the largest non-resort hotel rooms in central Kelowna at 78 square metres. The post-2019 interior package reads as restrained contemporary, walnut, cream textiles, charcoal accents, the standard upper-midscale hotel design vocabulary executed cleanly.

The food and beverage offer is two genuinely working restaurants. The Smack DAB is a Coast Hotels brand running an all-day menu of Pacific Northwest comfort food, including a strong wine-by-the-glass list of Okanagan estates and a Sunday brunch that is among the busiest in the city. The Capri Hotel Lounge runs a lighter daytime menu and turns into a quiet cocktail room after 5 p.m. Both rooms are open to the public, which means the property does not feel like a hotel-only enclave. The Vita Spa, run by an independent operator on the lower level, offers a six-room treatment menu and is the only on-site spa in this Kelowna price band.

The meeting and event capacity is significant. Five rooms totalling 4,800 square feet of conference space, plus the 250-seat Capri Ballroom, handle the property's steady stream of corporate and wedding business. The outdoor seasonal pool is a deck-level installation with two hot tubs; the fitness room runs 24-hour access. The location, three blocks from the Kelowna Capital News building and immediately adjacent to the Capri Centre Mall, is the most pedestrian-functional non-lakefront downtown address. The Bernard Avenue retail strip is six minutes' walk; the lakefront promenade is eight.

Best Occasion Fit

Business

For a Kelowna business trip that does not need the Delta Grand's lakefront pricing, the Coast Capri is the cleanest pick. Executive workspaces in every room, free wired and wireless networks, a 4,800-square-foot conference floor with five breakouts, and the Smack DAB restaurant for client lunches. Corporate rates available for stays of two nights or more through Coast's group sales channel.

Family Holiday

For a family on a downtown stay, the double-queen rooms are spacious for four, the outdoor pool runs May through September, and the walk to the lakefront is short enough for children. The on-site Smack DAB removes the dinner negotiation; the Capri Centre Mall next door covers practical purchases.
