Best for Anniversary in Kelowna

An anniversary in Kelowna is a long, slow lunch above a vineyard, a sunset on the lake, and the slow drive between the two. The hotel's job is to disappear into that — to provide the sleep and the view and the service, and otherwise step quietly aside. Our verdict: Hotel Eldorado for the iconic 1926 lakefront setting, The Cove Lakeside Resort for romantic suite living near the wineries of West Kelowna, and Sparkling Hill Resort for the most refined wellness-driven anniversary in the valley.

Iconic
Hotel Eldorado

The 1926 lakefront flagship. Pandosy lake patio at sunset. From CAD $380/night.

Romantic
The Cove Lakeside Resort

Suite living, lake balcony, fifteen minutes from Mission Hill. From CAD $360/night.

Refined
Sparkling Hill Resort

Crystal-themed wellness above the Okanagan. From CAD $400/night.

Best for Wellness in Kelowna

Kelowna's wellness category is small but surprisingly strong, anchored by one genuinely world-class spa property and supplemented by lakefront resorts that lean into the slow Okanagan rhythm. Sparkling Hill Resort is the most serious wellness flagship in British Columbia — KurSpa is the only spa of its kind in Canada, with cold saunas, salt grottoes, and consultation-led programmes. The Cove Lakeside Resort earns its place for setting alone — a quieter West Kelowna address with vineyard mornings and lake afternoons. Hotel Eldorado is the restorative choice for those who heal best with old wood, lake light, and a long lunch.

Best Spa
Sparkling Hill Resort

KurSpa — Canada's most serious cold-sauna programme.

Best Setting
The Cove Lakeside Resort

West Kelowna lake balconies, vineyards over the road.

Most Restorative
Hotel Eldorado

Old wood, lake light, long lunch. The original Pandosy stay.

Kelowna Hotel Guide: When to Go, Where to Stay, What to Pay

When to Visit Kelowna

Kelowna runs a full season from May to October and a quieter, equally rewarding winter from December to March. Late June through August is the peak: hot, dry semi-arid days that hover in the high 20s and early 30s Celsius, the lake at swimming temperature, the wineries open seven days a week. September and October bring the harvest — vineyards in copper and gold, the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival in early October, and the year's most photogenic afternoons. Rates climb sharply through the harvest weekends. December through March pivots the city east toward Big White, an hour away and one of British Columbia's quietest serious ski mountains; winter wine tasting continues, and the icewine release in January is a genuine occasion. April and May are the shoulder — cool mornings, blooming valley, lower rates, and a city that is warming up rather than already humming.

Best Areas to Stay

Downtown Kelowna is the obvious base for a first visit — walkable, lakefront, and home to the Delta Grand Okanagan, the Royal Anne, and the cultural cluster around Bernard Avenue and the Cultural District. Pandosy Village, ten minutes south, is the boutique-restaurant neighbourhood and the address of Hotel Eldorado on its private lake patio. The Mission, further south still, is upscale residential — beach access, quiet streets, an evening rather than a day district. West Kelowna, across the William R. Bennett Bridge, is the wine country side: Quails' Gate and Mission Hill are within ten minutes of The Cove Lakeside Resort, and the rural pace is genuinely restorative. Lake Country, twenty minutes north, layers in residential calm and the Predator Ridge golf resort, a serious destination in its own right. Vernon, forty minutes north, is the gateway to Sparkling Hill Resort — peripheral to the city, central to the wellness experience.

Average Hotel Prices in Kelowna

Lakefront resort rates in peak summer run from CAD $300 to $600 per night for the better hotels, with Sparkling Hill Resort sitting alone at the top of the market — CAD $400 to $900-plus per night during peak season and through Wine Festival weekends. Hotel Eldorado runs CAD $380–$700 in peak; the Delta Grand Okanagan and The Cove sit in the CAD $320–$550 band; Manteo and Coast Capri occupy the CAD $230–$400 mid-market. Hotel Zed and the Royal Anne hold the value end honourably at CAD $200–$300. Shoulder-season rates (April, May, late October, November) drop 25–40 percent. Winter rates outside ski weekends are the year's lowest — Big White Saturdays remain busy, but mid-week stays at the lakefront properties are quietly excellent value.

Booking Tips for Kelowna

Book the May Spring Wine Festival, the October Fall Wine Festival, and any summer weekend at least three months ahead — the better lakefront properties run at high occupancy and the harvest weekends sell out earliest. YLW Kelowna International is fifteen minutes from downtown and connects to most major Western Canadian and US Pacific cities directly; Vancouver YVR is a four-hour drive east via Highway 97C, an itinerary worth the time for those who want the Okanagan slowly. Big White Ski Resort is roughly an hour east — most Kelowna hotels run shuttle partnerships during ski season, but a rental car remains the more flexible answer. Reserve winery tastings at Mission Hill and Quails' Gate ahead of arrival in summer; both restaurants book out a week or more in advance. The British Columbia Provincial Sales Tax and Municipal Regional District Tax (typically 11–15% combined) are not always included in quoted rates.

Tipping in Kelowna Hotels

Canadian tipping conventions apply throughout the Okanagan. Restaurants: 15–20% of the pre-tax total, with 18% the unspoken default at most hotel restaurants. Porters: CAD $2–5 per bag. Housekeeping: CAD $5–10 per day, left daily. Concierge for restaurant or winery reservations: CAD $10–20 depending on difficulty. Spa treatments at Sparkling Hill or any of the resort spas: 15–20% of the treatment cost, often added by the property. Winery tasting rooms generally do not expect tips, but a CAD $5–10 left at the bar after a private flight is appreciated.
