The Nantucket Hotel sits at 77 Easton Street, two blocks east of the Whaling Museum and seven minutes' walk from Steamship Wharf — the same harbour-and-village walking proposition as White Elephant (which is at 50 Easton Street, three doors west). The property occupies the restored 1891 Point Breeze building — the original Point Breeze Hotel was built in 1891 as one of Nantucket's three founding hotels alongside the Sea Cliff and the Wauwinet — and operated continuously as the Point Breeze through the late 20th century before falling into disrepair in the 2000s. The Karp family of Nantucket Hotel Group acquired the property in 2010, committed to a comprehensive 18-month restoration, and reopened the Nantucket Hotel in summer 2012 as a family-resort-scale property — the only Nantucket luxury operation structurally configured for families.

The 98 keys are spread across the restored 1891 main hotel building plus a small set of contemporary cottages added during the 2010-2012 restoration. Categories run from entry-tier Hotel Rooms (28 sqm, the standard heritage configuration) through Studio Suites (40 sqm with kitchenette, the small-family unit) to multi-bedroom Family Suites (60-90 sqm, two- and three-bedroom interconnecting configurations) and the Cottages (the standalone units, two-bedroom configurations with private outdoor space). What structurally distinguishes The Nantucket Hotel from every other Nantucket luxury property is the family-resort scale and infrastructure. The two heated outdoor pools (a quiet adult pool and a busy family pool with a children's water-feature wing) are the only multi-pool configuration on the island; the structured kids' programme (ages 3-12, with daily morning Whaling Museum-themed activities, afternoon Brant Point Lighthouse walks, and evening pizza-and-movie nights) is the only programme of its kind on Nantucket; the multi-bedroom Family Suites and the standalone Cottages are the only Nantucket luxury inventory designed for family-of-four-or-six bookings; and the property's free island-wide bicycle programme (every guest gets a Nantucket bike for the duration of the stay) is the most-considered logistical asset for any island stay.
