About The Bellasera Resort

The Bellasera Resort opened in 2002 on the corner of 9th Street South and 3rd Avenue South — a stretch of Tamiami Trail that had little to recommend it before the architects arrived with a set of drawings borrowed from a Tuscan hill town. Terracotta roofs, ochre stucco, an arcaded courtyard, and a campanile that reads convincingly enough at dusk that first-time guests sometimes wonder which century they have arrived in. The result is the closest thing Old Naples has to a small piazza hotel — a rarity in a city where the prevailing aesthetic is white linen and Gulf-front simplicity.

The property has 100 suites, every one of them, by deliberate design, with at least one private balcony and a separate sitting area. Studio Suites are the entry tier and run a generous 500 square feet; one- and two-bedroom suites scale up from there to family-friendly 950 square-foot configurations. Interiors lean warm — wrought-iron beds, wood-beamed ceilings, hand-glazed tile in the bathrooms — without crossing into the theme-park tendency that this kind of architecture sometimes invites. Wing-facing rooms overlook the courtyard pool and palm garden; street-facing rooms look out over Old Naples roof-lines toward the Gulf in the distance.

Zizi Restaurant + Bar is the on-site dining room and one of the few hotel restaurants in Naples that locals actually frequent. The kitchen runs a Mediterranean menu with a Tuscan accent — handmade pastas, wood-fired pizzas, a respectable Italian wine list — and the bar wraps onto a terrace that opens to the pool deck. Zizi's Sunday brunch is a quiet institution, and the restaurant takes reservations from non-guests, which the regulars appreciate and the marketing department perhaps does not. The bar pours competent Negronis and Aperol spritzes well into the evening, with live acoustic music on weekends in season.

The outdoor heated pool sits at the centre of the courtyard, ringed by palms and arched colonnades, and is the property's most photographed feature — and the reason Bellasera works as a winter base for solo travellers and couples who do not require beachfront immersion. A modest spa offers massage, facials, and couple's treatments in two cabana-style rooms; the fitness centre is small but genuinely equipped. There is no private beach, but the hotel runs a complimentary shuttle to the Lowdermilk Park beach access on Gulf Shore Boulevard during peak season — a five-minute ride and the right answer for guests who want sand without committing to a beachfront rate.

Location is what closes the deal. The Naples Pier is a fifteen-minute walk south. Fifth Avenue South — the city's primary dining and shopping promenade — begins four blocks east and runs all the way to the Gulf. Third Street South, with its small galleries and morning farmers' market, is a ten-minute stroll from the front desk. Tin City and the Naples Bay Resort marina are within walking distance to the south. The Bellasera trades the price tag of a Gulf-front room for two-thirds of the rate and the run of Old Naples on foot — an exchange that, for a particular kind of repeat guest, makes complete sense.

Best Occasion Fit

Anniversary

Bellasera is the right Naples anniversary base for couples on their fifth, tenth, or fifteenth — comfortable enough to feel celebratory, intimate enough that the Tuscan courtyard at dusk does the romantic work without theatrics. Request a one-bedroom suite on the courtyard side, dinner at Zizi on the arrival evening, and a slow walk down Fifth Avenue South after. The pool deck after sunset is one of Old Naples's quieter evening corners.

Solo Retreat

For solo travellers, Bellasera offers the rare combination of an all-suite footprint, a walkable Old Naples address, and a price point that does not penalise single occupancy. Mornings on the balcony with coffee, an hour at the courtyard pool, lunch on Fifth Avenue, an afternoon at Zizi's bar with a book. The staff knows how to leave returning solo guests alone in the right way — a quietly underrated skill in Florida hospitality.

Family

Two-bedroom suites at Bellasera give families a kitchenette, two bathrooms, and a balcony — a configuration most Naples beachfront resorts do not match without doubling the rate. The courtyard pool is gentle enough for younger children, the beach shuttle handles the sand requirement, and Fifth Avenue's casual restaurants are a four-block walk. The right answer for the family that wants Old Naples on foot rather than a self-contained resort campus.
