Pebble Beach Resorts' flagship since 1919 — 161 rooms framing the 18th green of Pebble Beach Golf Links and Stillwater Cove, with Stillwater Bar & Grill, the Tap Room, four signature golf courses on or adjacent, and the Forbes Five-Star Spa.
"On the 18th green of the most photographed golf course in the world. The Tap Room's memorabilia wall alone is worth a stay, and the Stillwater Cove sunset view is the closing argument."
The Lodge at Pebble Beach opened in 1919 — six years after Samuel F.B. Morse's Del Monte Properties Company began the Pebble Beach development of the Monterey Peninsula and three years before the May 22, 1922 opening of Jack Neville and Douglas Grant's Pebble Beach Golf Links. The Lodge has been continuously operated since by what is now Pebble Beach Company (the descendent of Del Monte Properties under Marvin Davis-led ownership 1979–1990, the Japanese-led ownership 1990–1999, and the current 1999 ownership group of Clint Eastwood, Arnold Palmer, Peter Ueberroth, and the Crosby family). The result is one of the most continuously operated grand resorts in American hospitality, framing the 18th green of the most-photographed golf course in the world.
The 161 rooms (with multiple sources citing 161 to 199 keys depending on suite-and-cottage breakdowns) range from Garden View Rooms (the entry inventory, with views of the Lodge gardens) through Fairway View Rooms (with views over the 1st, 17th, or 18th holes), Junior Suites and the named Suites, and the cottage-style accommodations on the property's south flank. Most rooms have wood-burning fireplaces; the better Fairway and Ocean View categories have private balconies or patios with direct fairway or Stillwater Cove aspect. The named Suites (the Carmel, the 17 Mile, the Stillwater) range from 900 to 1,300 square feet and handle the milestone-anniversary inventory.
Dining centres on the Stillwater Bar & Grill — the all-day American restaurant on the property's western edge with floor-to-ceiling windows over Stillwater Cove and the 18th green — and the Tap Room, the lobby-floor sports bar whose memorabilia wall (USGA Open trophies, golf historic photographs, the Bing Crosby Pro-Am artifacts) is itself a destination. The Bench at the 18th-tee deck, the Gallery Café, and the in-room programme through 24 hours round out the dining brief. The Spa at Pebble Beach (which the Lodge shares with sister property Casa Palmero) is one of only 126 spas worldwide to hold Forbes Five-Star recognition. Four signature golf courses are accessible: Pebble Beach Golf Links (1922 Neville/Grant), Spyglass Hill (1966 Robert Trent Jones Sr.), The Links at Spanish Bay (1987 Watson/Tatum/Jones), and Del Monte Golf Course (1897 — the oldest continuously operated course west of the Mississippi).
The position is the closing argument and the second commercial pillar. 1700 17-Mile Drive sits at the heart of the Pebble Beach community, with the 18th green sixty seconds from the Lodge's main entrance and the rest of the 17-Mile Drive scenic loop accessible from the lobby. Carmel-by-the-Sea is six minutes by car; Monterey is twelve; Big Sur is forty-five; Carmel Valley is fifteen. The annual AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (early February), the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance (August), and the periodic U.S. Open Championship (most recently 2019, returning 2027) are the destination events the Lodge handles at the highest level. For honeymoons, anniversaries, golf trips, and the milestone bookings every Pebble Beach hotel measures itself against, the Lodge is the only answer.
For Pebble Beach honeymoons at the iconic-flagship tier, the Lodge is the obvious answer. A Fairway View Room facing the 18th green is the standard pick; a named Suite (Carmel, 17 Mile, Stillwater) for the milestone version. Stillwater Bar & Grill at sunset for the dinner; the Tap Room for the post-dinner; the Spa's couples' programme for the morning. Concierge handles round bookings, helicopter excursions, and the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center programme.
Anniversaries here run on the same vocabulary, calibrated to the milestone year. The named Suites for headline anniversaries; private golf cart for the Stillwater Cove sunset photograph; the Bench at the 18th-tee deck for cocktails; Stillwater for the milestone dinner. The Lodge handles wedding-anniversary photography on the 18th green with a programme it has been running for over a century.
For corporate golf trips, the Pebble Beach Pro-Am sponsor programmes, and any business stay where access to four signature courses matters most, the Lodge is the only answer. Tap Room handles the post-round programme; Stillwater Bar & Grill handles the working dinner; the resort meeting-space programme handles boardrooms and the larger events. A two-night minimum stay is required to secure a round at Pebble Beach Golf Links itself — book six to twelve months ahead.
