Jumeirah Mina A'Salam

Madinat Jumeirah's family-skewed sister, abra waterway, souk access.

#18 in the Top 20 Hotels in Dubai 2026

"The 2003 founding hotel of Madinat Jumeirah, traditional Arabic design at the cluster's value tier."

9.3Room & Design

9.7Location

Why this rank: Jumeirah Mina A'Salam opened in 2003 as the first hotel of the Madinat Jumeirah cluster, alongside Al Qasr and Dar Al Masyaf, with Jumeirah Al Naseem added later. It holds 292 rooms and suites in traditional Arabic wind-tower style; the Royal Suite is its largest layout. Staying here opens the whole Madinat dining roster by abra, including the over-water seafood restaurant Pierchic on the Al Qasr pier, and puts the Burj Al Arab five minutes' walk away. It is the oldest and busiest of the Madinat hotels, family-heavy and dated next to Al Naseem, but it carries the cluster's traditional register at the lowest rate. Best for the Madinat setting at the value tier.

Why Jumeirah Mina A'Salam makes the Dubai list

Jumeirah Mina A'Salam is the original Madinat Jumeirah hotel, opened in 2003 before Al Naseem and the cluster's later expansion, and it remains the family-skewed sister to the contemporary Al Naseem flagship. Its 292 rooms and suites sit in the Madinat's signature Arabian-fortress style: sand-coloured walls, carved wooden balconies, palm groves and canals. What you buy at this tier is the full Madinat position at a 20 to 30 per cent rate discount against Al Naseem: the same abra network, the same souk on foot, the same Burj Al Arab views from upper Burj-facing rooms. It is the right pick when the Madinat setting and the souk circuit matter more than the newest rooms, and the saving against Al Naseem is the point.

Best room to request

Request an upper-floor room facing the Burj Al Arab for the view the location is sold on. For more space, the Royal Suite is the property's largest layout.

Concierge tip

Confirm a Burj Al Arab-facing room at booking; it is the photograph the location is sold on. The abra shuttle from Mina A'Salam to Al Naseem and the souk runs roughly every fifteen minutes. For one dinner, book Pierchic, the over-water seafood restaurant on the Al Qasr pier, a short abra ride across the waterway.

The wider context

Jumeirah Mina A'Salam sits within our broader Top 20 Hotels in Dubai list. It scored an aggregate 9.6/10 across our three editorial criteria, competitive across the field, with the Madinat setting and value angle above earning its rank. For alternatives in the same area, see the Madinat and Jumeirah Beach hotels below. For a different city, see the related lists.

If you have already chosen the dates, our editor recommends booking the room twelve weeks ahead. Rooms with the coveted orientation are claimed first, while popular-month availability runs out months in advance. Suites with a private plunge pool or terrace, the very rooms behind this rank, usually vanish first.

Why this hotel works in Dubai

Editorial · #18 on the Top 20 Hotels in Dubai 2026 list

Jumeirah Mina A'Salam's case for the Dubai stay is the 2003 Madinat Jumeirah founding property. The property opened as the founding hotel of the Madinat Jumeirah resort cluster alongside Al Qasr, Dar Al Masyaf and Jumeirah Al Naseem.

The 292 rooms and suites across the traditional-Arabic-design wind-tower property include the Royal Suite at 230 sqm and the Ocean Deluxe Suite.

Staying at Mina A'Salam opens the full Madinat Jumeirah dining roster by abra, including the over-water seafood restaurant Pierchic on the Al Qasr pier. The water-taxi network across the Madinat canals to the souk is the property's defining Dubai experience, and the Burj Al Arab is a five-minute walk. The traditional Arabic wind-tower architecture is what separates it from the contemporary Al Naseem in the same cluster; Mina A'Salam holds the heritage register at the lower rate. Best for the Madinat setting at the value tier.
