"1840 Villa Roccabruna estate, 75 rooms across nine villas, the multi-villa estate option."
CastaDiva Resort & Spa opened in 2010 on the Blevio shore of Lake Como, built around the neoclassical Villa Roccabruna, once the lakeside home of the soprano Giuditta Pasta, who premiered Bellini's Norma and gave the resort its name through the opera's aria 'Casta Diva'. For a proposal the setting does the work: 75 rooms, suites and two private villas along a private stretch of shoreline, and the resort's signature floating pool moored on the lake itself, which is the picture most couples come for. Dining centres on L'Orangerie, the resort's fine-dining restaurant, while the spa and lakeside gardens fill the slower hours. A classic wooden boat runs sunset cruises that make a private, scenic setting to propose. The honest caveat is access and price: Blevio sits on the quieter side of the lake with no town within walking distance, so you depend on the boat or a car, and rates here are among the highest on Como. For a couple who want a self-contained lakeside estate rather than a village base, CastaDiva is hard to beat.
A lake-view suite for the water and floating-pool views, or one of the garden rooms as the more affordable entry point.
Book L'Orangerie ahead for a celebration dinner, and arrange the resort's boat for a private sunset cruise on the lake, which doubles as a quiet, scenic place to propose. The spa is the natural unwind on a slower afternoon.
CastaDiva Resort & Spa sits within our broader Top 20 Hotels in Lake Como for a Proposal list. It scored an aggregate 9.5/10 across the three editorial criteria, competitive against the field but, on a proposal-specific factors, the angle above is what earned its rank. For the alternatives in the same Lake Como neighbourhood, see Blevio (southwestern shore) and adjacent. For a different city entirely, see the related lists below.
If you have already chosen the dates, our editor recommends booking the room twelve weeks ahead. Suites with the prime view angle sell through first; for peak months, availability is measured in months rather than weeks. Suite-level rooms with private plunge pools or terraces, the ones that earn this rank, are typically the first to sell out.
