"LVMH built it as a love letter to the Seine. Top-floor suite, Pont Neuf in the window."
Cheval Blanc Paris opened in 2021 inside the restored Samaritaine department store on the Quai du Louvre. The project was an LVMH undertaking — the same LVMH that owns Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Tiffany. The hotel sits directly above the Pont Neuf bridge, with the Seine running past the windows and the Louvre across the river. It is the youngest palace hotel in Paris and the most precisely engineered. The rooms are the largest in Paris by some margin — the smallest entry-level rooms run to 50 square metres, the suites to 250 square metres and above. Plénitude (Arnaud Donckele's restaurant) holds three Michelin stars; Le Tout-Paris on the seventh floor has a panoramic terrace running the length of the Seine. The proposal asset is the Quai Suite — a Seine-facing suite with a private balcony directly above the river. Watch the bateaux-mouches pass below; propose at the 10pm bridge lighting. The Dior Spa Cheval Blanc is the largest hotel spa in Paris. This is the contemporary proposal hotel of choice.
Quai Suite — Seine-facing balcony directly above the Pont Neuf. Or the Suite Cheval Blanc, the 250-square-metre flagship.
Reserve a private table on the Le Tout-Paris terrace for 9pm. The Seine view is at its most cinematic at the 10pm bridge lighting; propose during the transition. The hotel will arrange a private bateau hire afterwards if requested.
Cheval Blanc Paris sits within our broader Top 20 Hotels in Paris for a Proposal list. It scored an aggregate 9.8/10 across the three editorial criteria — competitive against the field but, on proposal-specific factors, the angle above is what earned its rank. For the alternatives in the same Paris neighbourhood, see 1st arrondissement, Pont Neuf and adjacent. For a different city entirely — Lake Como, Capri, or New York — see the related lists below.
If you have already chosen the ring and the date, our editor recommends booking the room twelve weeks ahead. Most palace hotels in Paris hold their proposal-grade suites at premium rates that release closer to the date — but the best rooms with balconies and views go first, and the inventory for the popular months (April–June, September, December) is quoted in months, not weeks.
