"Firostefani, traditional Cycladic, the lower-key sister-village to Imerovigli."
Dana Villas is in Firostefani, the village just south of Imerovigli, on the same cliffside but at a lower altitude. The geographical position is the asset: Firostefani is genuinely quieter than both Oia and Imerovigli, the cliff-edge footpath is walkable in summer (in Oia it is wall-to-wall in season), and the hotels are roughly thirty percent cheaper for an equivalent suite. Dana Villas itself is a sixty-room property of restored Cycladic suites cascading down the cliff, with two infinity pools, three restaurants, and the traditional whitewash-and-blue-dome architecture. Honeymoon Suites have private balconies with partial caldera views; the larger Honeymoon Plunge Pool Suites have small in-balcony plunge pools. Dana is not a five-star, and the service standard reflects that, but for honeymoon couples who want the cliff position and the Cycladic photograph without the cave-suite tier price, this is the most reliable mid-tier pick on the island. The walk along the footpath to Imerovigli (twenty minutes) and onward to Oia (ninety minutes) is the great Santorini hike, and Dana is the right starting point.
Honeymoon Plunge Pool Suite, small balcony plunge pool, caldera-facing.
Walk the cliff footpath from the hotel north to Oia at 5am one morning, the only time it is empty. The walk takes ninety minutes and ends at the windmill for sunrise. Take the bus back.
Dana Villas sits within our broader Top 20 Hotels in Santorini for a Honeymoon list. It scored an aggregate 9.2/10 across the three editorial criteria, competitive against the field but, on a honeymoon-specific factors, the angle above is what earned its rank. For the alternatives in the same Santorini neighbourhood, see Firostefani, central Santorini and adjacent. For a different city entirely, see the related lists below.
Once your dates are fixed, aim to reserve the room about three months out. The view-facing suites disappear earliest, and high-season inventory moves on a timescale of months, not weeks. The plunge-pool and terrace suites, the categories that justify this ranking, tend to sell out before anything else.
A ranked shortlist, a special offer worth booking, and the overpriced stay to skip. Straight from the editors.
