Sibuet boutique of 19 bungalows and two villas on a Colombier hillside, the most secluded design-led honeymoon option.
"Sibuet boutique of 19 bungalows and two villas on a Colombier hillside, the most secluded design-led honeymoon option."
Villa Marie Saint-Barth is the Caribbean outpost of Maisons et Hôtels Sibuet, the French family group founded by Jocelyne and Jean-Louis Sibuet and behind Villa Marie Saint-Tropez. It is made up of 19 bohemian-chic bungalows and two private-pool villas scattered across a steep, jungly Colombier hillside on the quieter western side of the island, with wide views over the bay toward Flamands. The honeymoon case is design and seclusion: tropical-Provençal interiors, a leafy pool terrace, a spa, and the romantic François Plantation restaurant, whose name carries over from the island institution that once stood here, now serving Provençal cooking touched with Caribbean flavour. The honest trade-off is that this is a hillside hotel, not a beach resort: it is not walkable to a beach, you drive or shuttle down to Flamands, and the famous Anse de Colombier is reachable only by a coastal hike or by boat, and the steep, terraced layout means a lot of steps. Book it for privacy, style and views; choose a beachfront hotel if sand-at-your-door matters more than seclusion.
For a honeymoon, one of the two private-pool villas or a top-of-the-hill bungalow with a sea-view terrace is worth the upgrade, privacy and the view over the bay are what you are paying for here. Lower garden bungalows are more sheltered and cheaper but trade away the panorama; if stairs are a concern, ask for a room nearer the entrance and pool.
Book a terrace table at François Plantation for a celebration dinner, and rent a car or use the hotel shuttle, since you will want to get down to Flamands and into Gustavia. For a memorable morning, ask the hotel to arrange a boat to Anse de Colombier, the secluded beach you cannot reach on foot.
Villa Marie Saint-Barth sits within our broader Top 20 Hotels in St Barths for a Honeymoon list. It scored an aggregate 9.4/10 across the three editorial criteria, competitive against the field but, on a honeymoon-specific factors, the angle above is what earned its rank. For the alternatives in the same St Barths neighbourhood, see Colombier (west coast) and adjacent. For a different city entirely, see the related lists below.
With dates settled, the booking window that works is about twelve weeks ahead. Rooms with the coveted orientation are claimed first, while popular-month availability runs out months in advance. It is the terrace and plunge-pool suites, the rooms this rank rests on, that book up soonest.
