Luxury hotels increasingly trade on their architects. Kerry Hill at Aman properties. John Pawson at minimal-luxury hotels. Yabu Pushelberg in interiors. The architect is the brand.
Why architecture matters
Three forces. First, the design press celebrates hotel architecture as much as institutional architecture. Second, signature architects produce visual identities that drive bookings. Third, architectural rigor produces longer-lasting hotels — the original Aman Bali (Kerry Hill, 1996) still photographs as well as new builds.
The result: choosing a hotel by architect has become a meaningful path.

How to book by architect
Most hotels list architectural credit on the "About" page. Some make it the marketing centerpiece (any Aman, any Cheval Blanc, any Park Hyatt by Tony Chi). Others bury it.
If architecture matters to you, build the trip around 2-3 properties by the same architect. The design vocabulary travels.

Five rules
- Choose hotels with named architects — quality follows
- Aman, Bulgari, Cheval Blanc, Park Hyatt all have architectural rigor
- Read the architecture press — Dezeen, ArchDaily list new openings
- Build trips around 2-3 properties by the same architect
- Stay 3+ nights — gives time to inhabit the architecture
The full architecture ecosystem is covered across historic luxury hotels and modern design hotels.
