Best Iconic Hotel Pools Worldwide

2026 · 2 min read Hotel Photography Editorial Team
The short answer: the most photographed hotel pool in the world is the Marina Bay Sands infinity deck, guests only on the 57th floor. The highest is Address Beach Resort Dubai at 293.906 meters, Guinness-certified. For romance the Belmond Caruso belvedere above the Amalfi Coast is the shot; for winter, Gansevoort's heated Manhattan rooftop.

Some hotel pools are the trip. The shots taken at them define the destination.

How to photograph hotel pools

Shoot at sunrise, empty, golden light. Sunset works but is busier.

Position camera at pool edge for infinity-pool framing. Wide lens (24mm equivalent or wider) captures the depth.

For overwater pools, drone shots have become standard. Confirm hotel drone policy.

Five rules

  1. Sunrise pool sessions, empty and golden
  2. Wide lens for infinity pools
  3. Drone policy varies by hotel, confirm
  4. Don't post during the trip
  5. Tip pool staff for early access

What changed in the June 2026 review

Two former rooftop entries are out: one Manhattan pool we could not verify exists at that property, and Bulgari Tokyo, whose pool is an indoor 45th-floor lap pool rather than an open rooftop. In their place are two pools whose superlatives are independently certified: the Guinness-verified Address Beach Resort in Dubai and Manhattan's only year-round heated rooftop pool at the Gansevoort. The full verified rankings live in our world pools guide and the city cuts for Singapore and Bangkok.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most photographed hotel pool in the world?
The Marina Bay Sands infinity pool in Singapore, on the 57th-floor SkyPark spanning the three towers. It is open to hotel guests only, with no day passes sold, which is exactly why the photograph still carries status. Sunrise sessions beat sunset: fewer people, cleaner light, calmer water.
Can you visit the Marina Bay Sands pool without staying at the hotel?
No. The pool deck is strictly for registered guests and Singapore's other rooftop pools follow the same logic; the public alternative is the CE LA VI bar on the same roof. If the pool photo is the point of the trip, the room rate is the ticket price.
What is the highest infinity pool in the world?
The pool at Address Beach Resort in Dubai, Guinness-certified in March 2021 at 293.906 meters, on the 77th floor. Unlike Marina Bay Sands, access can be bought: day passes exist alongside hotel-guest access, with adults-only hours. Conditions at that height are windier than the photographs suggest.
When is the best time to photograph a hotel pool?
Sunrise, almost always. The water is untouched, the deck is empty and the light is low and warm. Sunset produces stronger color but shares the frame with every other guest. For heated pools in cold cities, winter mornings add steam off the water, which is the rarest shot of all.
Are drones allowed for hotel pool photography?
Usually not without permission. Most urban hotels ban drone launches outright and resort policies vary by country; Maldives resorts often require staff-supervised flights or prohibit them near villas. Ask the hotel in writing before you travel rather than testing it on arrival; confiscation at customs is common in some destinations.
Which hotel pools photograph best in winter?
Heated rooftop pools in cold-weather cities: steam, skyline and empty decks. The Gansevoort in New York is the benchmark because it is Manhattan's only year-round heated rooftop pool. Alpine spa pools work the same way at altitude. Tropical infinity pools, by contrast, photograph nearly identically in any month.
