The Hotel

Wynn Las Vegas opened in 2005 on the site of the demolished Desert Inn, and it remains the clearest expression of what one individual's obsessive control over a hotel project can produce. Steve Wynn's name is on the building, and the hotel operates as though he approves every floral arrangement personally — which, for much of the property's first decade, he did. The bronze-glass tower rises 45 stories at the north end of the prime Strip corridor, its exterior visible from the air as you approach Harry Reid International. The approach from Las Vegas Boulevard, through the resort's private garden — a planted hill that screens the property from the street — is one of the most considered arrivals in American hospitality.

The rooms occupy a curved tower configured to give every guest a view of either the Strip or the resort's own 18-hole golf course and lake. Standard rooms begin at 640 square feet, which makes them among the largest entry-level rooms on the Strip. The palette is warm and restrained — caramel and champagne, custom carpet, upholstered headboards that extend to the ceiling. The bathrooms are marble throughout: double vanities, deep soaking tubs, and separate glass showers are standard. Tower Suites at the Wynn represent a hotel-within-a-hotel on floors 37–45: separate check-in, a private lounge, and rooms that begin at 2,000 square feet.

The dining programme is among the most decorated on the Strip. SW Steakhouse overlooks the Lake of Dreams — a nighttime theatrical light show projected onto a waterfall — and is widely considered the finest steakhouse in Las Vegas. Lakeside, the signature restaurant from Bruno Riou, occupies a glass pavilion over the water. Costa di Mare is the city's pre-eminent seafood destination. For all-day dining, La Cave Wine & Food Hideaway and the Wynn Buffet (a legitimate fine-dining enterprise disguised as a buffet) round out a programme that most standalone restaurants would be proud to match.

Wynn holds the highest concentration of Forbes Five-Star awards of any property in the world — the hotel, spa, two restaurants, and casino all carry the rating. The spa spans 45,000 square feet across two floors and includes 45 treatment rooms, a full salon, and a fitness centre that doesn't look like an afterthought. The pool complex — six pools, private cabanas, and Surrender Nightclub at the water's edge — operates from spring through autumn as one of the Strip's premier outdoor destinations. The Wynn Nightlife collection includes XS, consistently ranked among the world's highest-grossing clubs.

Best for Proposal

Wynn Las Vegas is the most dramatically appropriate proposal setting on the Strip. The Lake of Dreams — a 3-acre private lake with evening theatrical light shows — provides a backdrop that no other Las Vegas hotel can replicate. The Tower Suite terraces on the upper floors overlook the lake directly; a private dinner on the terrace, with the show timed by the concierge, produces a moment that Las Vegas is uniquely qualified to stage. The resort's floral department will design a custom arrangement for the room. The jewelry services at the Wynn Esplanade include Cartier, Tiffany, and Harry Winston within 200 feet of your room — for those who still need to acquire the ring. See all proposal hotels →

Best for Bachelor/Bachelorette

XS is the highest-grossing nightclub in the United States. Encore Beach Club is the benchmark for pool party hospitality. The Wynn's suite configuration — from the Panoramic Suites to the three-bedroom Duplex Suites — handles groups at the level that the experience demands. The resort's group sales team will arrange table service, cabana bookings, and dinner reservations as a single coordinated package. The Wynn and Encore operate as a connected property, which means a group can move between two towers, two casino floors, and three club venues without leaving the grounds.
