Four Seasons Hotel Mexico City ranks first on our list. Set on Paseo de la Reforma, its 240 rooms and suites (200 rooms and 40 suites) wrap a colonial hacienda courtyard, and a redesign by Mexican designer Bibiana Huber unveiled in April 2026 will be fully revealed by mid-2026. The St. Regis Mexico City is the closest rival, with full butler service on the same boulevard.
Polanco and Paseo de la Reforma are the most walkable, secure luxury bases for a first visit. Polanco (Las Alcobas, Casa Polanco, Habita, Camino Real) offers museums, Avenida Masaryk shopping and top restaurants; Reforma (Four Seasons, St. Regis, Sofitel) sits between Chapultepec Park and the historic center. Roma and Condesa (Brick, Carlota) are more bohemian and design-led.
Expect five-star entry rates well above most international cities. Rooms at the Four Seasons and St. Regis generally begin around US$400 a night, while boutiques such as Brick and Casa Polanco vary more by season. Mexico City has no beach-resort peak, but rates climb around big events: the city is a 2026 FIFA World Cup host, which is pushing summer pricing.
The luxury hotels concentrate in Polanco, Roma, Condesa and the Reforma-Chapultepec corridor, the city's most secure and walkable upscale districts. Standard big-city precautions apply: use hotel-arranged cars or app-based rides such as Uber rather than hailing on the street, especially late at night. Every hotel in this guide sits inside these central neighborhoods.
The headline is the Four Seasons Hotel Mexico City. In April 2026 it unveiled the first phase of a full redesign of all 240 rooms and suites by Mexican designer Bibiana Huber, timed to the hotel's 32nd anniversary, with the complete reveal due by mid-2026. Separately, Grupo Habita, whose Hotel Habita stands in Polanco, was named Hospitality Design magazine's 2026 Hotelier of the Year.
For romance, the adults-only Las Alcobas (35 Yabu Pushelberg-designed rooms in Polanco) and the intimate Casa Polanco lead. For business, the Four Seasons and St. Regis on Reforma win on location, meeting space and service, while the Sofitel Reforma adds a high-floor spa and skyline views. Families are better served by Polanco's larger five-stars than the small Roma boutiques.
