White Elephant has occupied the Nantucket harbour-front at 50 Easton Street since 1923 — three minutes' walk from Steamship Wharf (the ferry terminal that connects Nantucket to Hyannis on the mainland), six minutes' walk from the cobblestone Main Street, and on the same harbour-edge block as the Brant Point Lighthouse and the Whaling Museum. The property is the island's grande-dame luxury operation, owned by the New England Development hospitality portfolio, and has held the position of Nantucket's primary social-and-political-event hotel for a century. The current footprint of 73 keys spans the original 1923 main hotel building plus a network of small cottages and family villas along Easton Street that the property has restored and added to its inventory across the last forty years.

The 73 keys run across three building categories. The Hotel Wing holds the 64 traditional hotel rooms in the original 1923 main building (categories run from Harbor View Rooms at 28 sqm through Junior Suites at 45 sqm). The 8 Cottages on Easton Street are the property's mid-tier — restored late-19th-century shingled cottages each with private outdoor space, configured as one- and two-bedroom units. The Residences (the property's high-end category) run as 4 standalone villas with full kitchens, multi-bedroom configurations to four bedrooms, and dedicated butler service — typically taken as whole-villa exclusive use for family or multi-couple bookings. Operationally White Elephant runs the most-considered Nantucket all-day dining proposition. Brant Point Grill — the property's signature seafood-and-grill restaurant facing the harbour — is the island's most-recommended single-room dining venue and runs a wine list of about 300 bins focused on New England oysters and East Coast seafood pairings. The Hotel Library (the original 1923 main lobby's fireplaced sitting room) runs an afternoon-tea-and-cocktail programme that is the property's signature daily-routine asset; the Pool Bar at the property's heated outdoor pool is the all-day summer venue. Most evening dinners across the Nantucket luxury market are taken at Brant Point Grill or at one of the village's three or four standout independent restaurants (Topper's at the Wauwinet, Cru, Ventuno).
