The Hotel

The Inn at the Market has operated on Pine Street above Pike Place Market since 1986 and remains the most neighbourhood-embedded luxury hotel in Seattle. The 76 rooms occupy a building integrated into the market's fabric — the back entrance opens directly onto the market's post alley — and the hotel's courtyard faces west toward Elliott Bay, providing one of the finest morning views in the city from a position that most guests don't anticipate when they book.

The rooms are generously proportioned for their boutique category and are finished in a warm palette that references the market's aesthetic without replicating it literally. Sound-facing rooms have the bay views; the courtyard-facing rooms face the hotel's private courtyard and the rooftops of the market below. Café Campagne, the French bistro in the hotel's lower level, is one of Pike Place Market's finest dining rooms — the weekend brunch serves the most civilised eggs benedict in Seattle.

The hotel's market access — early morning entry to the farmers' stalls before the retail opening — is the concierge's most unique offering, and a 7am walk through Pike Place with a hotel guide is a materially different experience from the same walk at 11am. The proximity to the Seattle Art Museum, the Chihuly Garden, and the waterfront makes the inn's location among the most culturally connected in the city.

Best for Anniversary

The Inn at the Market anniversary experience is built around the market and the water — the Café Campagne dinner, the morning market walk, and the courtyard view of the Sound produce a Seattle anniversary that is grounded in the city's actual identity rather than its luxury hotel infrastructure. The roof deck view at sunset is the most accessible version of the Puget Sound panorama available from any Seattle hotel. See all anniversary hotels →

Best for Solo Retreat

A solo week at the Inn at the Market — market mornings, Café Campagne evenings, walks to the Seattle Art Museum and the waterfront — is the most neighbourhood-rooted solo experience in Seattle. The hotel's 76-room scale ensures that service is genuinely personal rather than merely branded. See all solo retreat hotels →
