Why Mandarin Oriental The Landmark for a business trip

Mandarin Oriental The Landmark, formerly The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, opened in 2005 inside the Landmark mall in the heart of Central and reopened on 1 June 2026 after a full renovation by Hong Kong designer Joyce Wang. For a business trip its case is location and dining rather than views: you step straight out into Central's banking core, with covered walkways to Statue Square and the surrounding office towers. The hotel has around 110 generously sized rooms and suites, and the L600 rooms remain among the larger entry-level rooms in the district. The food and drink line-up is the headline, with seven Michelin stars across the building: Amber, Richard Ekkebus's three-Michelin-star French restaurant, alongside three-star Sushi Shikon, one-star Kappo Rin, the French bistro and wine bar SOMM, and the new BLANC DE NOIRS champagne bar. The honest caveats: the hotel sits inside a shopping mall, so there is no grand street arrival and no harbour outlook, and the renovated spa and its lap pool reopen in July 2026, slightly after the rooms and restaurants.

Best room to request

The L600 rooms are the well-sized entry category; step up to a suite for a separate sitting area to host a small meeting.

Concierge tip

Book Amber well ahead for a three-Michelin-star French client dinner, or Sushi Shikon for sushi at the same level. SOMM is the spot for a wine-led evening, and the Landmark mall downstairs covers early meetings and shopping.

The wider context

Mandarin Oriental The Landmark sits within our broader Top 20 Hotels in Hong Kong for Business list. It scored an aggregate 9.8/10 across the three editorial criteria, competitive against the field, and on the business-trip specifics it is the dining and Central location above that earned its rank. For alternatives in the same district, see the other Central hotels on the list. For a different city entirely, see the related lists below.

Have firm dates? Our editor's advice is to book roughly twelve weeks in advance. Rooms with the coveted orientation are claimed first, while popular-month availability runs out months in advance. The plunge-pool and terrace suites, the categories that justify this ranking, tend to sell out before anything else.
