Corinthia London opened in 2011 inside the restored 1885 Whitehall Place building, a Victorian pile that served as Ministry of Defence offices from 1936 until 2007 before returning to hotel use. It is the London flagship of the Malta-based Corinthia group and runs one of the largest spa programmes of any central-London hotel. Around 280 rooms and suites sit above the public floors, with the multi-bedroom Royal Penthouse and the separate-entrance Garden House at the top of the range. ESPA Life at Corinthia spreads across four floors, with an indoor swimming pool, a thermal floor of sauna and steam, treatment rooms, and sleep pods built for jet-lagged executives. Dining now runs through Kerridge's Bar and Grill, Tom Kerridge's Michelin-pedigree restaurant, alongside the Italian Mezzogiorno, the Bassoon Bar, and the Crystal Moon Lounge. The pull for a business trip is the Whitehall cluster (Whitehall a block away, the old Ministry of Defence opposite, Number 10 about four minutes on foot) and the spa as a between-meetings reset. The honest trade-off is price: rooms and the ESPA programme both sit at the top of the London market.
