Why The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad for business

The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad opened in July 2022 in a new tower on West 28th Street, the only Ritz-Carlton in Manhattan below 50th Street. It holds 250 rooms across fifty floors, with a Club Level lounge on the top floor that serves a private breakfast above the skyline. The draw is the address: NoMad sits between the Flatiron Building and Madison Square Park, the centre of the city's tech and media economy and a clean meeting point for anyone with meetings south of midtown. The food is the José Andrés roster, Zaytinya for eastern-Mediterranean mezze and Bazaar Meat for the steak, with Nubeluz, his sky lounge, on the fiftieth floor. The honest caveat is value: rates run high for the category, and the rooms, while polished, are not the largest in this price band. For a business trip pinned to Flatiron or NoMad meetings where Ritz-Carlton points matter, it is the obvious base.

Best room to request

Club Suite (with Club Lounge access) or Empire State View Suite for the panoramic skyline orientation.

Concierge tip

Start in the Club Lounge: the fiftieth-floor breakfast runs from 6am, and the room can be reserved for small client meetings. Take Nubeluz at 7pm for the after-meeting drink, and request the corner banquette at least 48 hours ahead, as it books out.

The wider context

The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad sits within our broader Top 20 Hotels in New York for Business list. It scored an aggregate 9.6/10 across the three editorial criteria, competitive against the field but, on business-specific factors, the angle above is what earned its rank. For the alternatives in the same New York neighbourhood, see NoMad, Madison Square and adjacent. For a different city entirely, see the related lists below.

Once your dates are fixed, aim to reserve the room about three months out. The best suites with the right view orientation go first, and inventory for the popular months is quoted in months, not weeks. The plunge-pool and terrace suites, the categories that justify this ranking, tend to sell out before anything else.
